I know some may take this the wrong way but if there was any saving grace to this, it was that this didn't happen while children were in school, many people were at work, etc. because this could have been much, much worse.

We have many friends who live there - been watching Facebook for them to check in, relieved to know they and their extended families are safe.  Thank God!

DH woke up in the middle of the night as usual to go do you know what as usual, waking me up as usual. Came back from you know where and said, there's a tornado watch. I said mmmmmph (because there's a siren not to far from our house so we always know if something is up), and we slept through the whole thing. It was quite a shock this morning.

A Nashville friend's house is located almost directly under a tornado siren location and their dog was going crazy all night, poor thing. But they are fine, just sleep deprived.

Considering it leveled 2 schools @Lipstickdiva you are right.  Blessed that it came in when it did.

Tornadoes at night and at drive time are often very deadly in metropolitan areas because people are asleep and don't get warned (you need a weather service alert radio or an electronic device set to warn you!), or because at drive time they are on the highway.

Because of the Moore tornado (one of the Moore tornadoes I should say) many schools have built safe rooms for the people that might be there during a tornado.

I have two grown Granddaughters that live in Nashville.  My daughter let me know first thing this morning that they were OK.  I am still sitting her in tears and saying prayers of thanks.  My heart goes out to the friends and families of the victims.  The pictures are horrible.

I think it is wonderful and kind hearted of the OP to send well wishes and blessings to Nashville. They are needed.

At the same time I don't see why COVID-19 preparedness needed to be brought into it. The last thing we need here is an epidemic along with the cleanup. Sick people with no homes or electricity? Oh great. I see them as (God willing) separate issues.

Re: Nashville's tornado

[ Edited ]

I'll just add please please take storm watches and warnings seriously this year.  Spring is one of the worst times.

Be sure to stay alert, keep up with when the storms are coming and have your devices set to let you know if you are in danger.

The National Weather Service, local tv stations, and internet sites are great!

The Severe Storms Lab convective forecast is detailed and somewhat technical, but their maps are very accurate and updated often on where storms can be expected over the next three days.  If you click on the map there is a narrative.

Stay safe and stay alive!
