I'm just glad you were ok and relieved to hear your cat was as well. I know that had to be a traumatic and horrifying experience.  Smiley Sad

@catchersmom, I meant I would have been at home for first call/very beginning of fire at the opposite end of the large building. I would have had time to stuff kitty in a carrier, grab a handful of clothes/shoes and some keepsakes. It would have had to be before the FD arrived, as they were keeping everyone away.

I'm so glad you got your kitty, though.

@Moonchilde understood

I'm still not real familiar with where posters on the board live, but I hope that those of you that are in that area of California are all safe....as well as your friends and loved ones

Do we know who the victims were?

Being an established area. I’m afraid many will be elderly.

Update:

CNN just announced an elderly couple of 100 & 90ish just perished.

Heartbreaking.

Re: Napa Fires, Calistoga Evacuating

We have two kitty carriers but it occurred to me the youngest probably grew out of her first one, so I got on Amazon and ordered another.

Trying a soft sided one, nice looking, lots of screened windows to open, latches so kitty can't open the doors, our youngest managed to open large crates made for a dog.  She could easily have been a jewel thief with her skills.  One claw was all it took, and she was so proud every time she got out.

Re: Napa Fires, Calistoga Evacuating

I heard an elderly couple died, 98 & 100....the granddaughter said a greater tragedy would have been if one survived.   So sad to live so long and die in such a horrible way.

Me too, @Noel7. He slept on my head for a month, and smelled like smoke for weeks. I called him BBQ kitty until it faded away.
