Speaking in "Pig Latin" with our friends, so others wouldn't know what we were saying. Lol.

pig Lat·in
ˈpiɡ ˌlatn/
noun
a made-up language formed from English by transferring the initial consonant or consonant cluster of each word to the end of the word and adding a vocalic syllable (usually ˈpiɡ ˌlatn: so chicken soup would be translated to ickenchay oupsay . Pig Latin is typically spoken playfully, as if to convey secrecy.

~~Be careful when you follow the masses. Sometimes the 'm' is silent.~~

@KingstonsMom

OMG, that's what my mom wore.  LOL.  They were called sanitary napkin belts.  I was 14 when I first got my period and I had to use those.  I was mortified and felt like everyone could see I was wearing those belts.  I immediately came home and begged my mom to get the pads with the adhesive.  Sure enough, she bought them right away.

Great thread. Brought back many memories. Thanks for posting it.

Does anyone else remember The Lloyd Thaxton Show, or was this just in California? It was filmed here. It was similar to ****** Clark. It was on here at 5:00PM every weekday. Kids dancing to the records that were on the radio, at the time. And they usually had a guest singing their current hit.  They also had one of the kids lip sync to a record, every day.

In addition to Green Stamps, we also had Blue Chip Stamps. Not sure if that was nationwide, or local.  I got a lot of good things with my stamp books.

ETA: They didn't allow me to type the name, but it's short for Richard. Richard Clark, American Bandstand LOL.

@CaliKat I remember Lloyd Thaxton! We got him in Philly. We didn't get TV until 1963, so it must have been after that. We also had D. Clark and Jerry Blavat (The Geater with the Heater).
