Plans have changed. We will be in Kansas City at 1587 restaurant hobnobbing with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Okay, so that was a dream I was having about an hour ago. Patrick and I were trying to take a selfie but couldn't seem to center the picture so both of us were in the frame at the same time.
The last time we were out for New Year's Eve was probably close to 10 years ago when we were at Applebee's in the city. I had a girly adult beverage with my alcohol of choice, rum. It's probably been two or three years since I've had my yearly adult beverage. I'm no fun LOL

I was told this morning while at work that I am baking a last minute birthday cake and bringing it to my sister's house for her party.

Staying home with DD and the cat.  Too many loons on the road on a normal day, add partying and drinking, nope.

My last NY's eve out was 1999, believe it was a Friday.  Went to friend's house,  left about 9pm I didn't feel well.  On Monday went to Dr.,  I had pneumonia.  Sickest I have ever been in my 75 years.

We are going out with another couple to see a comedian at a local theater.  Show starts at 9 and lasts for an hour and a half.  We should be back to my house by 11 for dessert and watch the ball drop.

Then it's goodnight!

No partying for us. DH & I are going out for an early dinner then back home in into lounging clothes.

We just received an invitation for this weekend so I need to get laundry done between tonight and Thursday.  Friday I'll be working on finger foods.

I was never a NYE person.  Even in my younger party-age years it was just myself and whoever else was home and ****** Clark.

This year is different.  My sister lost her husband back in Sept. and she sent out a group text saying she felt that it might be nice to have family around her as she heads into the New Year.  She asked if anyone would be interested in going up to her house to usher in the New Year together.

There will be 7 of us going up to have Chinese food, play cards, tip a couple back and just enjoy the togetherness.

On Christmas Eve I told a friend that I was responding to 17 different texts of Christmas remembrances and well wishes.  It felt just like the toast at the end of "It's A wonderful Life"......."To my big brother George,  the richest man in town!"  I asked How blessed am I?

Every New Year's Eve I always have a moment of wistful

reflection as I remember every face of every person that I have loved and lost over time.  This is followed by a joyful appreciation of those who I still have with me today.

For 2026, as I prepare to head off to be with my beloved

brother and sisters, I want to also say to all the great posters on these boards who fill  my day-to-day with

wit, information, advice, prayers, and let's not forget the occasional (?!) snark.........a very Happy NewYear to all of you.  Prayers and wishes for better health, more joy, prosperity and the best things that life has to offer.

I consider it just another day. In fact, I even actively avoid watching new years programs on TV. I do celebrate, however, the fact that the annual series of holidays is now over and done for awhile! Valentines Day and Easter are nothing burgers in my book, so it's smooth sailing with regular life for a while now. Hallelujah!
