Hopefully this nonsense of 'diversification visas' will come to an end.  They make absolutely no sense in todays world.

That program has been in place since the 90's. I agree to a point, but if no record is found, then what?

I'm sure my POV differs from yours but imo, diversification alone is not reason enough to gain entry.   I heard someone say it's like winning the powerball lottery and to me that was a perfect comparison.  If someone qualifies just because they're of a diverse culture, have no skills to offer this country, do  not speak English and will no doubt be eligible to qualify for food stamp/welfare at the expense of the American taxpayer,  we need to start using some plain old common sense and call a halt to this kind of nonsense.

I don't know how the guy got to the Home Depot.

Don't know if he stole or rented the truck.

The bad guys can steal a vehicle from anywhere.

We'll just have to wait and see.

But I have faith that NYC and the local FBI office including Homeland Security has been doing all they can since 9/11.

CBS news reported he showed his license and rented the truck. They found his car in the parking lot. He is an Uber driver.

@Trinity11

I have always been leery of Uber drivers . . . admittedly probably not fair of me.

As to Paterson, NJ, when I lived in North Jersey, I avoided that city even way back when.  I was very skittish about having to go there to collect my unemployment check when I was pregnant and no longer permitted to work.  (A woman was not allowed to work beyond six months of pregnancy at most businesses in the 1960s.)

What about "don't make this political" don't some of you understand?

Anyway, when we automatically label a person like this as "deranged" or "demented," we then can all breathe a sigh of relief. But not so fast because that is a huge generalization that may make us feel that they are some weird species that has nothing to do with us, which is far from the truth.

It's very painful to realize that those without any medical markers of insanity or extreme mental disease can become a mass killer.

I can agree with that. I also think we obviously need to keep better tabs on people. We find out ALL this info on them AFTER something happens.

@LilacTree More than 20 years ago I went to a hospital there. Security was tight. There is a part of Paterson with multi-million dollar homes. For the most part, though, it is unsafe.

I think that that is unfair. There is no correlation between any type of such drivers -- taxi cab, uber, Lyft, or others -- and terrorist attacks or crimes.

Each to his own, but I will gladly continue to use Lyft.

I use Uber often and like anything is life there are all different sort of drivers, no way to classify all of them in one group or ethnicity.

You probably mean the "Manor" section.  I lived next door in Clifton for about a year which is where I had my first child.  I had lived all of my life in Bergen County prior to that.  We moved to Virginia (suburbs of Wash. DC) from the Clifton apartment and lived there for eight years.

I agree.

How does someone vilify an entire group of workers by the actions of one?
