Re: NYC Doc Tests Positive for Ebola

If the doctors are to be quarantined here instead of there, how do they get home? Private jet?{#emotions_dlg.blink}

Well, wherever they are quarantined (and each of them should be), wishing them a quick recovery. Seems as though living safely becomes more and more difficult these days.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

They still go through the screening protocol at the airports leaving and arriving, but then they should go home and stay there for the 21 days. It's at least minimizing contacts and exposing others once the person is home. If Dr. Spencer had just gone home and stayed there for the 21 days when he was asymptomatic -- don't forget his symptoms began a week or so after he arrived home -- he would have still been at home when his symptoms appeared. He wouldn't have gone to the park, to the restaurant, on the subway system, to the bowling alley.

Oh boy, NYC. I wonder how many places this guy has been the last few days and how many people he has been around. It seems that his fever was already pretty high and he had gastro symptoms. {#emotions_dlg.mad}

Amazing that a doctor wouldn't at least suspect that maybe, just maybe, he could be infected? He felt "sluggish" for days. Unbelievable. Hope the bowling alley disinfected the bowling ball and shoes he rented from them (unless he brought his own).

He didn't bother to take his temperature either. He waited until he felt really sick and then it got to 103 degrees before he called and reported his symptoms! He also exposed his girlfriend. Wouldn't want him as my doctor.

I understand he did self-monitor by taking his temperature twice a day once he arrived home. It is also possible to have sudden onset high fever.

I read it earlier online and it was being discussed on one of the news stations.

Just unreal. The big question, how did he get through the airport screenings?????
