Re: NYC Doc Tests Positive for Ebola

Lots of people are exposed to lots of viruses and do not get ill.

Different immune systems, etc.

I am certain they will contain this latest case and institute some sort of mandatory quarantine for those returning from medical missions in the affected regions.

Look at Noel spinning. She knows what she argued about the other day has now come to pass. ASYMPTOMATIC at the airport over there can still mean someone is INFECTED.

There is a big difference between being infected and being contagious. Big difference.

If we can't trust DOCTORS to not get on the NYC subway and go to a bowling alley and a NURSE not to hop on a plane and run to a bridal shop and look at wedding dresses after they have been exposed to infectious fluids of dead Ebola patients who in the heck can we trust to be smart about risk and infecting others? Are these people stupid or just lacking in common sense? Why would these people not care about who they infect? Ewww. This is just not acceptable.

Really, I don't understand this at all. Shouldn't these medical professionals be smart enough to quarantine themselves long enough to determine if they are infected or not? Not run around on public transportation and potentially infect others. Just really dumb and careless.

When will this lack of common sense stop??

ITA!

Well he stayed in his apartment most of the time but he had a sudden urge to go bowling, take the subways and a cab, even though he admitted to feeling under the weather the whole time. Not very smart.

Yes.....and this is a doctor that has been in Africa, treating Ebola patients and should know all about this disease. And he comes here and behaves this way? I am at a loss for words.....this is just lunacy.

Someone needs to put these people into quarantine if they are too stupid to do it themselves.

Just defies logic.....

When you've got to bowl, you've got to bowl. Must have been super important to him.Wink

The nurse with the low-grade fever had no symptoms so why did they contact everyone on the plane she sat next to?

Good question.

Why would they scrub down planes if she was showing no symptoms? Maybe some on these threads who think they have all the answers can explain.

I (think) I saw a news report saying that they had scrubbed the plane that infected nurse was on FOUR times and replaced the carpeting etc.

Now that was either a) because that was necessary or b) to make people feel safer. Take your pick. lol

Good question.

It's called an overabundance of caution.

Which we should be exhibiting, every step of the way.

I would feel so much safer if there was an official21 day quarantine for all returning from that region.I wonder how all of the businesses that are identified as having possible exposures will recover from the stigmas.

BTW, the cops in NYC are not ruling out terrorism according to police commissioner Bratton and Mayor Deblasio. Especially since what happened in Israel and Canada. In reference to the incident in Queen's today

Cue Gretta and her ""overabundance of caution"" theory.

Re: NYC Doc Tests Positive for Ebola

Because when the nurse flew home she did have a fever although it hadn't reached the threshold.
