Hi Spinach!
I love the colors of your room! Yes, I would put something behind the sofa.
Are you on Pinterest? In "search" put in "wall behind the sofa" for so many wonderful ideas.
Also, I love adventures so I would tell my husband we are going on an adventure to find the perfect item(s) for the wall behind the sofa. Sometimes it takes us years but I find the hunt is as exciting as the find
Good luck!

I had the same thought as phulphy, I would put a library table behind the couch to give some height back there. You could use a tall lamp and stack a few books on the table and add a battery operated light that comes on in the evening, or a piece of pottery, anything decorative.
That is what I have done behind my sofa. I do have one picture hanging, it is long and narrow and fills the space nicely. I change out what is on the table for the holidays/season. I am not a fan of putting to many holes in the walls but I don't want them bare either.
I also would find a solid throw (that coordinates) to drape on the flowered couch, I am not a fan of the couch either but I understand why you do not want to get rid of it.
Your room is lovely.

The end tables are a bit matchy swap one of them for the one between the red chairs
I think a rounder lamp/s would be nice
the couch is nice
mirror or is a good idea but do you think a reflection might be an issue if there are people sitting in the red chairs during the day

Hi, I love your house. Beautiful. I agree the wall looks bare, and I do not think a picture group would be a good idea because it would be too busy with a printed couch. I think either a mirror as someone else suggested or one single piece of artwork. Or you could slipcover the sofa to cover the print and then could do something more busy on the wall.

Thank you! All great ideas!

For me, there's too many lamps in the room. I would try moving the lamp on the left side of the sofa back to where the lamp by the fireplace sits. Take the picture down that's over the fireplace and put something on the mantle. A mirror orver the sofa with some plain pillows. Put something on the table where the lamp was. TJ Maxx has some great glassware to decorate a table. I love the beams, you have a beautiful home.

Just dropping in to say:
The room is lovely! I love the ceiling and those beams!
I would put some kind of a mirror over the couch. Not anything too dramatic, just something to fill the space. I think a picture might make it too busy.
But only you really know, being physically in the room.

That's a nice room! I think it looks a bit unfinished because the colors are not pulled together. This can be done using throws, pillows, and other accessories. For example, the red chairs could use a pillow on each that contains some of the colors of the floral sofa. This could be striped, plaid, or anything that you think looks good. What about a throw on the seating part of the sofa that would further tie the chairs and the sofa together? This could be a solid color or something very subtle if it has more than one color. You can consider the whole room while making these choices, as other colors in the room can be tied together using these pillows/throws.
You could add something decorative on the coffee table and maybe a few things around the room that similarly help tie the room together using color, shape and texture. It's a matter of trial and error.
The rug looks a bit out of place in terms of color, but that could be solved by bringing that off-white color out in the use of objects and/or fabrics around the room. You could try to pick off white as a color in your accent pillows for the two chairs. Again, it's trial and error. The rug will become tied into the rest of the room if there are spots of that color distributed around the room. I like to go to discount stores like Marshall's and Home Goods because they have many interesting items at great prices.
Congratulations on your marriage and new home!
P.S.: I would put something tall like a lamp or a sculpture or even a vase of flowers (faux) on the table between the two chairs.

Just my 2 cents' worth: definitely put a mirror over the couch-- maybe a framed one -- it will reflect the light from the window and brighten the whole room. I like your arrangement; I don't think the room is large enough to put the couch in front of the fireplace. Rather than the big coffee table (I know you said you are keeping it, but maybe move it to another room?) I'd put two nice storage cubes in front of the couch. You could put a unique tray on one or both of them.
Some soft pillows and a throw or two would soften the whole effect. And some books and magazines! It doesn't look lived in at the moment!

I do agree with you. I think the room looks fine, but that is my taste. I don't care for a lot of things on the walls. Suggestion might be to move some of the existing pictures.
The picture on the right over the red chair looks like a floral, perhaps that can be moved above the sofa and then move the picture above the fireplace to the area where the other picture was. Seems the fireplace is a focal piece on its own. I know most people like something above the fireplace, perhaps a small simple unadorned wreath to break up the squareness of the space.
