I have had 3 rescue cockers as part of our family dog pack. They vary in temperment but usually sweet natured, not always the sharpest knife in the drawer. I still love the breed. King Charles are also very sweet but require a lot of grooming and maintainance; our cockers often have a 'puppy cut'.

I loved watching it. My Japanese Chin died in March. They never place in the Toy Group, and this year the Chin came in 2nd. Now I have a French Bulldog, and it won the Non-Sporting Group. I used to have Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and the one this year was gorgeous.

tansy......I have never seen one of these kinds of dogs.......
I just love these kinds of shows. Even though I own Mr. Lucky (cat), have always loved dogs.

Mine is a sweet, funny and polite little boy. He likes to dance around on his hind feet. We call it the Havanese Shuffle. I keep his black and white hair much shorter than the show dog's.
Mine twirls around; I call her the dancing bear. She's a big dog.

This may have been posted in previous years. This may even be where I first saw it, I can’t recall. Anyway it’s always nice to read again!
The Perfect Dog ~ written by John O’Hurley
My son asked a question as little boys do
Of me in my wisdom and all that I knew.
“Is there a dog that is perfect?” he asked on a whim,
Well, I thought and I thought about where to begin.
“He’d have ears that were floppy… or cropped and alert
And eyes that were sleepy… or perky and pert,
He’d leap like a bunny or sit in your lap
And run fast as horses… or opt for a nap.
“A dog that is perfect would be covered in spots
Or maybe one-color … and then have spots-not.
“He’d be small as a teacup… or big as a house,
With a nose that seemed flattened … or long like a mouse,
“He’d swim and he’d hunt with a coat flying free
Or be dainty and delicate … and ‘He’d’ be a ‘She’
As I struggled to answer, and not with a clue,
My son, with a smile, said, out of the blue,
With the wisdom of children, what he already knew…
The dog that is perfect … is the one next to you.

A Thanksgiving Day Tribute to his Canine Pals
~ written by John O’Hurley
I give pause to my paws on this day of Thanksgiving,
Whether wide-eyed, or doe-eyed, or with eyes that seem hidden,
They're focused on you,
As I watch for a clue
Just wink or a touch,
Says I'm important to you.
But my words sound like woof
My voice kind of gruff,
So I know that
My thanks may seem never enough,
But this secret I share
With you on a whim
All dogs speak best with what's farthest from them,
Whether fluffy or skinny, full-sized or "a la carte"
Always watch for our tail,
It's attached to our heart.
It the last lines "Always watch for our tail--It's attached to our heart" that get me every time!

@Snoopp, a Havanese? Mine's big for the breed at 20.5 pounds. And, yeah, he'll twirl if we make circles with our hands. It's not his smoothest move -- lol. 😄

@silkyk Thanks for posting that, it was beautiful. Dogs are amazing creatures and I love that they do things "for absolutely nothing but joy." I would add they also do things from pure love and loyalty.
