WHO MISSES THE SHOW?

I just started taking a non-credit class in TV/Film.

We had the choice of several TV shows that we could choose to follow for the 2nd half of the TV season.

Since, I love Nashville, I'm hooked on it; of course, I chose Nashville

Here is our question to answer before the 2nd half of the season starts on Jan 9th:

Who is Maddie's Father: Deacon (my choice) or Teddy?

(B) If Deacon, what were the circumstances; did Rayna know she was pregnant with Deacon's child when she married Teddy? Did she find out later, that her Hubster was not her oldest daughter's Father?

(C) Regardless of when she knew, why would she keep the secret for 12 years, from Deacon and does Teddy know? Did she begin by feeling that Deacon, in the throes of addiction, could not be a good Father? Was she afraid that if she let Deacon into her life, as her daughter's Father, she would go back to the Man that she's always been in love with, and Teddy was just the safer, stabler choice, both as a Father and Husband? Did she get to a point where she felt the window of opportunity to tell, had closed, and she'd cause too much pain, so, chose to keep the secret?

Was there more involved. Her Father and Sister apparently know (or so it seems, especially if you believe Deacon is the Daddy), has she been pressured by her Family, perhaps, almost blackmailed to keep the Baby Daddy, secret?

And what if Teddy does know? Could he have found out, and used that knowledge to keep his wife in the marriage?

And if Deacon is the Daddy, isn't it odd that he would not have wondered about the timeline of his relationship with Rayna and Maddie's birth?

And what happens when Deacon, invariably finds out? Could he ever forgive the love of his life for keeping the secret that they had a child together? How would he handle the revelation, might it push him back to his darkest demons?

But, what if Deacon is NOT the Father, could that hint that seemed so strong in Episode 1, just have been a clever red herring?

Should make for some lively class discussion, it will be a lot of fun to hear everybody's thoughts, I still need to put mine together.

And, are you team Deacon, Teddy, or, they should both give her the boot, if, in fact, she's kept the secret from both men and Maddie? (Definitely team Deacon, but, without a good explanation, hard to understand her motivation).
