Re: NAP TIME IS A PRECIOUS GIFT

NAps can be too much of a good thing.  if I take a nap that lasts more than One hour I cannot get to sleep that night even if I stay up later to compensate for the extra nap time

Re: NAP TIME IS A PRECIOUS GIFT

If I nap I do not sleep at night.  The older I get the less sleep I need.  I'm good with 6 hours.

Re: NAP TIME IS A PRECIOUS GIFT

I never intentionally nap unless I'm sick and in bed which doesn't reallly count. I nod off on the subway sometimes, that could be a nap. If I wake up real early or didn't sleep well the night before, I might go to bed early.

My kids are grown now but my sweetest memories are when they were little. After Sesame Street and Mr Rogers, we'd go to my king size bed, read a story or two, close the blinds so the room was dark and turn on the fan for white noise and then take a much needed nap together. It was a way to shut out the world and have that special time. I miss those days.

I worked until I was 66.  So, never got to nap.....my weekends were busy with cleaning, laundry, and shopping.

Never napped up until 2 years ago when I started the treatments for my cancer.  I have learned to give in to taking a nap.....usually every day.  Sometimes I get 2 or 3 naps in a day.  I blame it on the treatments.  Hardly ever have any trouble going to sleep at night once I hit the hay.

Just love the nurses in the treatment room.  They know me pretty well now, and know that once I'm out of there I intend to go home and get a nap after I've had a bite to eat.  We kind of laugh about it.  But, it is true, it is important that cancer patients sleep when they can.  Sleep is a good healer and comforter.

Re: NAP TIME IS A PRECIOUS GIFT

Never have been one to take naps. Tried a few times when working all work shifts that exist. No matter the shift I was working, a nap was a negative for me. Was more tired after than before, therefore I considered them to be a waste of my time.

Retirement has not changed my view on naps. Glad you value them and see them as a gift. Different strokes!

Re: NAP TIME IS A PRECIOUS GIFT

When I get only 6 hrs of sleep with or without additional sleep time from a nap, there is no spring in my step.  When I get 7 - 8 hrs I walk faster, my eyes are brighter, etc, etc.

The first thing I eat every morning is a protein smoothie with organic greens and coconut oil but if I don't get enough sleep it makes no difference that I start my day with something nutritious, I'll be dragging.
