Oh my God, what a mensch!

Our cat BooBoo goes to the vet this morning for blood work, preliminary to having his teeth cleaned in a week or so. He has to be fasting from last night till he sees the vet this morning.

Of course he's angry and hungry and he's really letting us know by loud howling and pleas, made up of mostly head bumps and loud purring. I feel so bad for him because he doesn't understand why we're being so "mean" to him.

My VERY DH felt bad about us eating in front of Boo--he usually gets up on the bed with us while we eat toast in bed and read the newspaper. And hearing the toaster's bell would be sure to set him off again. So DH pulled on some clothes and went out into the cold, dark, rainy morning and picked up breakfast for us from the local McDonald's so BooBoo wouldn't be so upset.

Wow! I've always know what a sweet, tender-hearted man he is and this is a perfect example of that. When I was single and "shopping" for the right man, I knew anyone who loves cats would be a front-runner. And when he did what he did today, it was a reminder (as if I needed one) of what a great guy he is and why I married him.

Please excuse what may be excessive bragging but I just can't help it. And I'll bet there are people here who can confirm what I thought: that you can tell a lot about a person's character by how they interact with animals, especially pets.
