It was a short and horrible getaway: car trouble, my falling down on a slippery rock (we were at the Oregon Coast), our hotel (which we have stayed at several times) was shabby and run down, strange noises emanating from ... we're not sure where. I arrived home to a malfunctioning washing machine (this news was broken to me barely 60 seconds after I got my feet through the front door--I could have waited 5 minutes to hear about it), and we barely got parked in the driveway before one of our (new) tired went flat. SHEESH!

The one good thing is that hubby and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary and we managed to have a good time anyway. We've decided that our milestone anniversaries are just not meant to be celebrated. Five years ago on our 25th, we had a cruise to Alaska scheduled and booked, and we had to cancel it (thank God for travel insurance!) because I had to have my hip replaced.

HOWEVER....if you're ever in Waldport, OR, be sure to stop in at Bill's Chevron. When our car overheated at the the overlook at Cape Perpetua, the tow truck that Triple A sent was from Bill's and I can't say enough good things about then. The truck got to us in less than an hour, dropped us off at our hotel, tested our car thoroughly and couldn't find anything wrong; they said it was probably "just" a bubble in the system or...something. Anyway, they called when they said they would and showed up--when they said they would--to bring my husband to the station to pick up the car, and charged us the minimum they had to.
