@Snowpuppy wrote:I get fooled in the full service checkout standing behind the shopper with 2 items.
She wants to chat for 20 minutes with the clerk, tries to use an expired coupon for 1 item and writes a check for her $3.95 purchase.
What I "like" is the person that has been standing in line for 15 minutes and doesn't take out the checkbook until all their items are rung up. Then they go fishing in their pocketbook and take 10 minutes to write out the stupid check. For Crying out loud, have the check all written out - except for the amount!

That's weird. What happened that made her get upset over a divider?
Did you mention it to the manager?
She said I would crush items, @Daisy Sunflower, which made no sense whatsoever. No, I didn't seek out a manager but I considered it.

I'm going to generalize here but it always seems to be a man in that situation.

Not in mine. Lol. It's always the same woman that doesn't sort her coupons.

I always use self check out. My grocery has no limit on how many items you can have to be in that line. Whether I have 2 items or 50, I can check myself out much faster than any of the employees working there. This is just one reason I don't shop at my local Target - because they refuse to put in a lane for self check out.

And the reason I don't go to my CVS is because they make you use the self checkout. They lost their jobs to the self checkout. I get my prescriptions and pharmacy items in the grocery store.

@MathisFan wrote:I never use the self checkout. That's what cashiers are for. If the store wants to pay me or give me a percentage off my order for checking out my own items I might consider using one.
I disagree. That is like saying I won't use the ATM to get money out, but insist on going inside and let the teller do the work. The drive thru at a bank is even longer!!

A few months ago a woman in line at Aldis was a few dollars short, searching her purse, counting out a pile of change. I was packing my groceries, I gave her a $5 bill. She was very grateful.
When I left the store she pulled away in what had to be a $60,000 pick up.
But it still made me feel good.

That must be an individual thing per store management. None of the CVS that I've been to in multiple areas force you to do self-checkout. I may have to wait a bit, but there's always someone working. If you have a coupon or various discounts from a previous receipt you have to have a human ring you up.

Our CVS stores don't have a self-checkout.
