This is awful. My 13 year old grandson's homecoming dance was tonight and he was one of the escorts in the court. His mom (my daughter) bought him a brand new outfit to wear tonight.
Someone called in to Crimestoppers about a possible shooting to occur. The school had no choice, but to cancel.
I feel terrible for all the kids that have been looking forward to this event. It really breaks my heart for them. Can you imagine all the little girls that went out and got dresses, etc?
What's wrong with people???????

Hopefully once this gets straightened out the dance can be rescheduled, it is heartbreaking for these kids and makes them afraid to go to school.

I have grand kids and have lots of coworkers with young kids, I always tell them I could never raise young kids today, would have no clue as to what to say to them in this crazy world.

@San Antonio Gal. Schools all over the country have been plagued with threats the past week or two, including in my area, even causing cancelation of classes in some places.
A concerted effort needs to be made to identify and prosecute the originator of these threats to put an end to them. It's very possible they are kids who think it's funny. They can rarely resist bragging about such actions so shouldn't be too hard to identify.
They put parents into an absolute panic. We had hysteria on the NextDoor app early this past week. Of course nothing happened but a lot of school admin and police time was wasted.

A school near us this week had two 14 year olds, one a boy and the other
a girl wanting to blow up their school. Never ends.

Kids are sitting in jail because they didn't want to go to school Friday so called in a bomb threat. another kid was reported on the anonymous tip line and is also in jail. this happened a couple towns over and the police have made it very clear what will happen and then follow through. the police are not fooling around.

And kids that do this think it is funny to do,and i am sure their friends know they did this.

Hopefully there wasn't anything to the threat. Better safe than sorry.
Back in the 70's when I was an adolescent/teen, the bomb threats would come in on the days of finals or mid-terms. They were done to get an evacuation of the classes and then a test or two couldn't be taken. Never made the news.
There were also a few school shootings but the targets were missed. Never made the news. That sort of thing happened beck then but it is now happening on a larger scale.

I'm so sorry that your grandson and the other children are disappointed. Hopefully, it can be rescheduled.
Perhaps that phone call averted a catastrope. Thank heavens they will all be safe tonight. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

So sad, especially for the kids that worked so hard.
It's horrible that you can't be at peace when your child/grandchildren are at school or a school function for fear that a shooting can occur.
