My granddaughters friend committed suicide.

My granddaughters friend comitted suicide. Shes my granddaughters age (13). I dont know if she was bullied nor do I have any other details thus far. I am just sick to my stomach. I talked to my granddaughter and tried to help her get thru this, but it was really tough and she kept crying. My cousin had committed suicide (over health issues years ago too and I thought I could talk to her in a kind and caring matter). But HOW IN THE WORLD do you explain this to a 13 yr old that a young child, her friend is dead and didnt want to be here on earth? (My daughter called off work to stay home tonight to be home with her).
