How thoughtful you are. What a lovely idea.

@Mary Bailey I forgot to add so sorry for your loss.   I also want to help you do something for your loved ones and you.  I think with others reading and adding to it, you'll be inspired and your loss will bloom like cherry blossoms.  Want to try it?  If you do tell me something funny about him, a story that others know.

Call it quirks.  I remember my father-in-law would peel potatoes singing this wonderful little Italian song.  My DH and BIL's would grab peelers and start singing it too.  In fact know I have to paint 5 potato ornaments with a bit of the Italian song on the back!

My beloved mother-in-law passed away in June at age 93.  I was able to get a book of poetry that she had, with 100 famous poems.  So I am starting now to paint about 40 ornaments.  I'm also painting a short verse of a poem on the back, from her book.   Then they'll go to each family member.

Here's my first ornament of a snowy owl.

@LoriMI, what a beautifully creative and inspirational gift. it's such a thoughtful way to celebrate your mother-in-law's life.

You paint beautifully and I'm sure that each one of your gifts will be treasured by your family members.
