@lgfan - toilet tissue was the first thing I noticed for the same reason so I buy my toilet tissue and paper towels from Amazon Presto brand.

I never would have thought people would actually be switching the eggs from the cartons!

Now I'll be looking for a small ham for Thanksgiving as my second meat.  I like Cooks with the bone in but it's so big.

My eggs look about the same.

Of course, I always pay a lot more because I only buy pasture-raised organic.

I was hoping you meant the ones at the store.  The shells are the pits.  Maybe the organic ones are fine, but the regular ones, shells are not always very sturdy.

Hi  @SloopJohnB   Woman Happy

I passed by this topic thinking it was too personal to know about your own eggs.  @SloopJohnB .  ROFL

But then, of course,  curiosity got the best of me!  Woman Happy

GREED is the watchword of seemingly some Businesses, incl Large now, increasing prices, while *also* decreasing product. I guess we're expected to be too busy to notice.  But didnt get past y'all   Woman Happy

SAD, while families, retirees, people in general, are trying to stretch the value for a dollar. How do ya deal with Double Greed?

I wonder just who we're to attribute this profound, double greed to.   For starters, Im going to trail up the Profit Chain, & check out all the way up to the $alaries, Golden Parachute$, $tock Holders, etc, fr top on down.  I hope that will dictate just who I buy from, who I write Complaint letters to, & who I boycott.

I hardly ever, ever eat meat, but happened to glance at meat/beef prices in this last Grocery "Sale "     WOW!  AMAZING!!  How do families deal with this?

Seems War purchasing, frugality in mind, Weekly circulars, comparison grocery store sales, Only 1 weekly trip to the Grocery store, & shared car/gas was how my Mom raised 4 children, by buying on weekly sale, and THAT was the exactly the most immediate, weekly upcoming meals, (or freezing items while on sale).  Reuse when can, til source is exhausted.

Hopefully this double greed doesnt stretch into the realm of Beans, Legumes & Rice!  Already see some in Fresh Fruits & Veggies.

Buckle up!

Re: My eggs are shrinking!

[ Edited ]

I only buy the pasture raised eggs from Aldi.  I've gotten an assortment of sizes within the  carton now and then, but not usually. I still use whatever a particular recipe calls for and haven't noticed any I'll effect on the results

@JoyFilled Warrior   I am glad you didn't pass me by.... LOL

Looking back a few years ago, I think the first things I noticed that shrunk in size were the 1/2 gallons of ice cream.  At first glance they look pretty close in size until you put the new & old side by side.  Then I noticed the OJ containers got a little narrower but again, at first glance "close enough for government work" as they say.  At least for the most part, back then the price stayed the same but you just got less for your money.

Now it is downright pretty blatant.  Packages of cookies like Oreo's & Fig Newtons have really gotten smaller.  Of course the price not only didn't stay the same but rose along with most everything else in the grocery store.  Meats, cheeses, fruits & vegetables, deli & bakery items, all of it.  Probably the best time to go on a diet.  Woman Very Happy

Many many years ago, I bought yet another box of ohh so familiar Russell Stover chocolates, 16 oz. I knew exactly what to expect when I opened the box.

But now, these arrived with quite a generous spacer inside between each chocolate.  I checked the weight on the outside of the box.  It was now 12oz, not the customary 16 oz  Nothing had changed on the outside of the box except the tiny "12" for weight.  Same font, etc

I called Russell Stover and complained abt the change.  They explained that change in weight was clearly on the box cover.  I said YEAH, WITH no CHANGE in Font or cover.  SNEAKY!

I wrote a profoundly disappointed letter to Russell Stover complaining.

Next thing,  3 new, filled boxes of 12 oz's arrived.  Totally unexpected.

Apparently, that was when a company paid attention to/a consumer/s & were responsive.

I dont know if Company's are like that any more.  I havent tested it yet again.

But I noticed on Amz now, they offer both 16oz ($33 WHEW!)  and a 12 oz.

Msybe, just maybe, in this case, as they say,  "the squeaky wheel got the grease?"

Is it worth trying?  Don't know.

Well, not just mine, but eggs in general.  Shrinkflation at its finest.  I bought my usual carton of a dozen large eggs today at my local Publix.  Looking at them closer you would think they were the medium size if not the small size.  Looks like I will have to upgrade to the extra large if not the jumbo size to use in my recipes when cooking or baking.  Or double up on them.  $ign of the time$.  🍳🐔

@SloopJohnB I thought the same thing this morning. I always buy my eggs from my friend. Her chickens, a nice variety of different breeds, are free range and their eggs are not quite white but more of a brownish-tan in appearance. (The free range eggs also have brighter yolks.) Dh usually buys eggs at the local grocery store cuz he only wants white eggs.

Today my egg supply was used up so I took a white egg from dh's carton and even tho it was labeled "Large" the egg was definitely more like a medium or small size.
