Hi, haven't posted here in a while but I am so upset. We took our 3 year old maltipoo, teddy, to the vet today for a pain issue (he has a bone chip in his neck that needs to be removed, which is bad enough but while we were there the vet who is a neurologist said he has a genetic disease and will be totally blind! We have to take him to a specialist about an hour away for confirmation and to find out how long he has with his vision. There is no treatment (I was so shocked I don't remember what the name of the disease is). I am so heartbroken that he has to have surgery and that he will probably be blind before long. Does anyone here have a dog who is blind? I just want to know what to expect and how hard this is going to be on him. He is such a happy little guy but I can't stop crying every time I look at him. I know I have to stop so I don't upset or scare him but it was such an unexpected diagnosis. Any advice would be appreciated and please say a prayer for my little guy.
