So forgive me, I complain a lot about Spectrum, you may want to move on! I noticed my bill went up by $11.55 from $209.88 to $221.43 ( I have cable, internet and a landline phone) two months ago. I called today because I had the time to be on hold ( over 20 minutes), of course the CS rep told me what had gone up, if I want to lower my bill I can cut out some services ( let me say I have been with the company for 18 years, when it was Time Warner Cable). She then tells me my " promotion" year is up in February, my bill will then go up to $237! You would think Spectrum would hold costs down, people are probably leaving them in droves, streaming shows, all you need is internet access. Talking to them about adjusting your bill falls on deaf ears, they don't care!

I feel your pain, and then they have the nerve to brag in their commercials that they don't raise prices like their competitors. I don't have much choice where I live , but they do tick me off.

Comcast is the same way.  Been with them since the beginning yet I don't get a break.

@Jordan2.  If you're seriously unhappy, fire them.  Two years ago, I got rid of Direct TV and have never looked back.  There's a wealth of information in the Electronics Forum archives on how to "cut the cord".  I wouldn't go back for anything.

Spectrum raises the rates on us long time customers while giving the $99.99 introductory rate to new fools. It's the only game in our locale if I want cable, phone and internet all under one bundle.

Re: My Spectrum Bill Went Up

You can cut the cord (in favor of an antenna) and get rid of the landline (in favor of a mobile phone), but there's no alternative for internet service, though I guess you could downgrade to DSL  Prices will continue going up and up, even when there is competition, as in my area (Comcast and Verizon).

I think basic internet service is a necessity of life these days and am beginning to think it should be regulated as a public utility.

My Spectrum bill also went up!!  When I called, I was told that everyone's bill went up due to market prices!!  I told the guy...you crow about not having contracts, but you raise your bill whenever you want...without letting customers know!!

Re: My Spectrum Bill Went Up

I recently had to renegotiate with Comcast.  I told the CS rep I was willing to go down one level to cut my bill down.  I was transferred to a Customer Retention rep so fast that it took me a minute to figure out what happened.  I was almost afraid to look out my front door!

But, I did end up with a lower bill, by about $12-$15, can't remember exact amount, and did lose TCM, which was OK because I rarely watch that channel.  Still kept HBO and Showtime and a few other movie channels.

So, I'm all set with Comcast. Until next October, that is, when it's time to do it all over again.
