My son's Birthday was yesterday and I mailed him a Birthday card with 2 gift certificates in it and I mailed the card Thrusday and I had to put extra postage on it because of the gift certificates and the card was thick. I never thought it wouldn't be delivered or I would of ask to have him sign for it and that way he would of gotten it. I do have a receipt but that won't help locating it. Is there anything I can do in locating it? I am so upset about this.

He may still receive it. I mailed a card from Portland, OR to NYC in Sept. & it took 2 weeks to arrive! I don't what part of the country it lingered in, but it did finally reach him! Locally, in my own town, it has taken 5 days for a birthday card to arrive (July). Then I ordered jewelry from eBay & paid for 2 day Priority - from CO to OR - & it arrived in 5 days (this month).
The USPS is just not doing its job lately.

As long as you have your return address on the envelope, it will eventually find it's way back to you if he doesn't receive it. When there are thick items in the envelope, it may default to hand canceling, which will take longer than by machine. He may receive it yet.

You might have gotten there faster if you used a manila envelope. Just saying... Hope it gets back to you or your son soon.

I hate to say it... but inside postal theft is very common. It goes on all the time especially with Christmas and envelopes that appear to be cards of some type. There was a 20/20 show on this with film footage of postal workers opening and stealing money, gift cards etc out of envelopes. I would not ever send money, gift cards or the like through the USPS. If you do... be sure to track it, and have the recipient sign for the card.
Hope that the envelope shows up for you.... I am sure it will.

Also this time of year, with lots more mail, service is usually slower in general. Keep the faith!
In the future, I would keep track of the gift card # & maybe then you could have the company void the old & issue a new - in case of loss.

Don't give up hope yet. It took the Post Office 16 days to deliver a priority letter for me. I filed a claim because I had to stop payment on a cashier's check and re-send. They denied the claim. They were actually quite proud of themselves when they finally delivered the original letter.

A relative in Europe sent me euros in the mail that I never received. This happened twice.
Last month I was waiting on a QVC package that was late and I checked with my PO. They said that for anything other than regular size letters/bills, etc. it could take several more days.

I'd give it more time before you panic. Mail can be slow, especially at this time of year. Hopefully it had your return address on it and will come back to you if it was not deliverable for some reason.
