This is a continuation of my earlier thread "Sometimes Life Throws You a Curve Ball".

I just got off the phone with the courthouse, and I have been exposed to a person who has Covid.

Great.

That does not mean that I have it, just that I was in the vicinity of someone who does.

So tomorrow I will get the nose swab, and I should know within 24 - 48 hours of the test results.

Until then, I am off of work until the 22nd.

I asked if the trial was put on hold because of this, and I was told that it was, because the exposure was from the courtroom.

So that means everybody in that courtroom from the judge, to the attorneys, to the bailiff, to the court reporter, to the defendant, to us potential jurors are all in quarantine.

I am trying to stay positive about this, but it isn't easy.

My supervisor wasn't happy that I will be gone until the 22nd, (because we are short handed to begin with), but out of an abundance of caution, they want us to stay home.

I 100% wholeheartedly and completely understand that.

You know, all I was trying to do was fulfil my civic duty.

I hope it's just the inconvenience of a precaution and no one gets covid from this.

Will you have to go back to jury duty once every one is done with quarantine?

I imagine that will not help your employer any, but jury duty alone can put a strain on work/workers and then add on top of that quarantining.

Hope all turns out well.

I asked that very question, and the lady that I was speaking with said, "You know, that's a very good question. I don't have an answer to that. Let me look into that, and someone will get back to you on that."

So, the answer is I don't know.

All I do know is, after all of this, I don't want to get another jury summons for at least a year.

@Anonymous032819  does your employer require documentation to back up your excuse?  I'm just hoping that something doesn't bite you in the behind later after everything you've been through.

Yes, my employer is requiring documentation of this whole thing, and it is being sent to me. I made sure to mention that my employer needs that paperwork.

Sorry you're going through all this. Too bad your supervisor isn't happy with you being off work, but it's not your fault.

You didn't deserve this, but what can you do? Nothing. Darn, it's a pain in the whatever.

Hope they send you the proper papers for your boss. If after waiting for the papers a short time, keep after them, just in case!
