I get random wrong numbers every day. I get text scams, mostly recently spoofing Chase bank. I get emails from my own email account threatening to blackmail with obscene pictures of myself (none of which exist), demanding bitcoin payment. I just delete all these things but some of them look quite real. The latest as an email from Google warning me someone in Vietnam was using my yahoo email account. What the heck? I don't even have a Google account. It is troubling to see the increase in these incidents.

I’ve gotten calls from my own number. I’ve also had people call and ask why I called them when I didn’t. We called the phone company when this first began about 5 years ago and they said there was nothing they could do about it. The FCC is now making these unwanted calls a top priority so hopefully we’ll begin to see some changes.

Yes, this has happened to me many times. I don't know how they do it. The one that really upsets me is when the Caller ID shows a hospital. It is very upsetting and should be stopped.

That happened to my husband and he immediately called Microsoft. They said Microsoft would never be calling like that and it was a scam and they want your information.

This first happened to me (on my landline) a few years ago. It was kind of startling the first time, but from then on, I just ignored it. It's only happened a few times. Recently a call came in from my own name & number on my cell. I ignored that too.
Bottom line for me is that I never answer if I don't know who's calling. If it's important, they'll leave a message, so I wait to see if they do that. If not, I assume it's another one of "those calls", and I go about my day.

@Twins Mom We've blocked our number and it works well, no problems. In fact, we've blocked the entire exchange. They tend to spoof those numbers quite a bit, hoping we'll think it's a neighbor or someone local.

This has happened to me. Like you I checked phones in house. How do they do that? My name and number appeared on Caller ID. This is going too far now. These calls must be stopped!

@Twins Mom- I went online to find out about Nomorobo, says it's free for the trial period but then $1.99/month after that. Have you had to pay anything so far? Sounds like it works well!
