I decided to go to Target this morning, I needed a couple of things. I looked up the store hours, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00-9:00 am is for seniors and those with health problems. I decided to get there about 8:50. I get out of my car, start walking toward the store, and see a line like you can't believe! The store is huge, I don't know how many customers are allowed in, by judging from the line it isn't many. I turned around got in my car and went home. I ordered what I needed online, it should get to me on Friday.

Re: My Misadventure Target Run

I think your mistake was showing up at the tail end of senior hours.

The people in line were most likely the nine o'clock on shoppers.

And you may have seen many seniors in that line because they don't mind shopping during regular hours.

Next time maybe get to the store a little before seniors hours and you may have to stand in line for that too.

Perhaps Target and other stores will see there is more of a demand for senior hour shoppers and extend from maybe 9 to 11 a.m.

I am really a fan of Targets drive up service. I have used it frequently and just love it.

@Jordan2 I feel your pain. I learned many many weeks ago NOT to shop at Safeway on Tues. and Thurs from 6 to 9 a.m. I went on a Tues. at 7:30 and because I need to park in a disabled space, there were NONE left and the store has a lot of them, so I went home.

Went back on Weds. and lots of parking and very few shoppers! It was great!

Re: My Misadventure Target Run

people have given tips on the Internet for people to go shopping after the senior or special hours because that is when the stuff is in stock.   last time I went at 830 and a line had started with the people not eligible and it was kept away from the entrance doors.   maybe they might have let you in?

Re: My Misadventure Target Run

Same exact experience for me today at Costco. Thanks to some good feedback on another thread, I’m going to try tomorrow at about 9:15 shortly after senior hours begin. We do order a lot online, but some things are only available in store.

Re: My Misadventure Target Run

Like I said I placed an order online, I'll get by Friday so I'm not too upset. This I'm afraid is going to be the norm for some time, I'm not going to wait online for an hour or more (especially in inclement weather). I guess I'll be doing a lot of shopping online.

Re: My Misadventure Target Run

I stopped going to stores during senior hours too. Now, I can just walk in the store instead of standing in line for half an hour. Our Target has senior hours on Wednesday at 7am.
There is nothing I need that requires getting to the store at 5am.

I was at Walmart yesterday around 10am, they had plenty of hand sanitizer. Left there and went to CVS, also had hand sanitizer.

Re: My Misadventure Target Run

I've gathered from at least several of the neighbors around me who have availed themselves of them that the 'senior hours' are probably not really doing anyone any favors... I think many of them have instead opted to seek out 'off' times during the day when stores aren't as busy.

Re: My Misadventure Target Run

I went to Target a couple of weeks ago. I got there at 7:15AM. I don't think it was a senior's day. It was on a Monday. I bought what I needed and did a self checkout. There were not many people in the store.
