My Incredible Shrinking Groceries--or, I Check The Carton Not For Cracked Eggs But To Be Sure 12 Eggs Are Still There

Forget coffee and yogurt, seems the manufacturers are downsizing everything these days:

-Dove's chocolates. Used to be a 9.5 oz bag. Now it's 8.87 oz and, if you refer to the serving size, you'll see that each piece is now smaller--downsized from 8 grams to 7.

- Classico basil pesto used to come in a 10-oz jar, now it's 8 oz.

- Clorox bleach was downsized and we were hit with the newsflash that it's now concentrated. Really?

- One of my favorite sightings was something I passed by in the household cleaner aisle: The label screamed, "New space-saving size!"{#emotions_dlg.mellow}

This downsizing is nothing more than a sneaky price increase and makes me wonder just how small the products can become without being laughable.

And that yogurt? If they reduce the individual container size to 4 oz, I'll lbe buying the large size and scooping it out myself.

The pain they have cost us, the evils that never happened.
