For awhile it looked like she would be ok, but sadly last month she passed. Forgive me for being sentimental , but tonight I just wanted to share what a really fine person she was. It's rare to make a good friend later in life, so I was blessed. My friend never met a stranger, ( not like the kitty at all. ). She was, funny, irreverent, kind and a little prickly.  She was a traveling CRNA, and after she retired, we only saw each other on visits. We would talk often and email , we never lost touch. She lost her husband a few years ago and we grieved along with her. She wasn't alone though, but surrounded by her animals. We both loved books, cats, politics, and shopping. If you lasted this long , thanks, I still head to the phone to tell her something funny. I was lucky to have her as my friend, and I will hold on to that.
