My Friend in San Antonio Has...

...70-degree weather today.  That is what he wrote to me.

So glad the Arctic blast lost its grip.

Same (70s) for my friends & family in the Friendswood/Pearland and Dickinson areas today.

Warmer temps there should be helpful. A little psychological boost too.

Of course, that arctic blast aberration wasn't going to last for ever.  It was fluke.  In a couple of weeks, they'll be in the 80's when the plumbing is all fixed, they'll be basking by their pools.  We'll still have our cold, snow, ice, slush and all that winter stuff.

We turned off the furnace this morning and now have windows open.  Go figure.

Re: My Friend in San Antonio Has...

Such good news. Those Texans have been through a lot! I hope their water problems get fixed and people who had water damage from freezing pipes get that taken care of....

mold and such will start showing up with the warm weather and all the wet damaged homes.

and now being charged ridiculous prices for electric.....what next?

My friend (he was my manager at one time) is both a survivalist and a frequent camper.  I knew in my bones he'd do well -- or as well as anyone could during the Arctic challenge.

Of course he has all sorts of camping gear in addition to having outfitted his home with a backup generator and a gas fireplace.  Also in his favor, he maintains an annual vegetable garden and knows, in general, how to survive off the land.  I never asked, but I just bet he has his dear wife "put up" the veggies.

Me, I am first in line to say that my idea of camping is staying at the local motel.

ETA:  He knows how to hunt and fly-fish, too.
