Tell her to be careful about giving them names that are too similar. I work for a medical billing coompany, and the confusion with insurance companies about very similar names with the same date of birth is common. Jalen and Jaden, Hallie and Hollie -- sometimes it can cause a big mess.

Congratulations to your friend, twin girls should be fun. Does your friend or her husband know their lineage? For example if they were Scottish or Irish the names have meaning and are derived from the clans. Also, like Anika suggested, it would be nice to use their mother's names in some way if it fit. I don't care for the fad names I prefer something more traditional, and don't like rhyming names for twins...reminds me of "Thing 1" and "Thing 2". I've always liked the name Kyra or Keira, and I think Katherine or Kathleen is lovely. Whatever you do, don't let her name the babies after fruit.

I have twin nephews (who are now married men). The names have to come from them. If I were having a baby now (of course Im not Im a grandmother) I would use older first names of family members since now we have all these new names and the old names have become obsolete! And PS my twin nephews names don't match and they only matched their clothing when they were toddlers. They were always very close and still are but they are their INDIVIDUAL selves.

Very popular from about 1914 to 1930 or '40. Not names I would choose now.
How about Amber & Heather or Lauren & Kaitlyn, Amanda & Monica, Kayla & Laura, Haley & Marley, Kiera & Hannah...
