My Fred Meyer shopping trip today

I go to Freddy's about once ever three weeks to stock up.  Today I got to the store at about 10 AM.  There were two people at the door wiping down carts for each customer that needed one. There was another lady at another door with free face masks incase Someone needed one.  I thought that was a nice  way of promoting Masks being required in store now. Actually it is required by the State now.

EVERYONE in the store had on a mask...only one child that was about 2 did not have a mask on.   All the other children in store had on a mask.  On my last visits...several people  wore no mask as it was not required then.

plenty of everything....lots of meat, chicken , fish, paper goods....even lots of hand sanitizer store brand for a reasonable price!

and the store was not very busy either....no lines at all at checkout....no one in front or behind me

all in all a pleasant trip and a much safer one  than previous trips I felt  with everyone taking  precautions.

That's about as good as it gets these days. I'm very pleased for you. I hope we see more reports like this from across the country. I want to rejoin the rest of the developed world.

Re: My Fred Meyer shopping trip today

I just got home from Kroger.  There is no a Kroger employee who stands outside the door to make sure only one door is used to entering and one door is used for exiting.  Once in where the shopping carts are, there is a lady holding a box of masks.  It is now required that all customers and employees where a mask.  In the past, the were cleaning the carts but I don't think they do that anymore.  I found the shelves today a little lacking.  Kroger has some good sales going on and many of the items are very limited, some not at all.  Plenty of TP but for the first time in a long time, napkins were just about gone and tissues on the shelf was very low.  I had fresh green beans and bagged ceasar salad kit on my list....there were no green beans and the ceasar salad kits were turning brown, though not to expire until 27th.  The only Clorox product I've seen is toilet bowl cleaner.  No wipes, no cleaner.  Haven't had any since March.

Re: My Fred Meyer shopping trip today

I made my monthly trip to IGA today. Was able to get Hellmans mayo, Barilla pasta, the last 2 boxes of Shake and Bake. No black pepper. The only name brand dish detergent was Palmolive. The meat section was almost bare, and I figured it was a combination of the new, expanded meat area which is 2x what it was last time I was there, surge of SS shoppers over the weekend, and a late delivery truck. Bread was also low, so no truck had delivered as of 11:00. I bought bleach. Still no name brand toilet paper.

@SeaMaiden

Glad to hear you had a pleasant experience.  I feel most if not all people are abiding to the rules.  The stores are vigilant to keep their customers coming back, especially food stores.

Our local Publix store I frequent is just the opposite experience👎🏻

Gone are the clerk(s) as you enter store giving you "wiped" cart, checking for mask (which is mandatory), no more senior hours, etc.  (they never offered masks).   They now have a dispenser of wipes inside the store to wipe your own cart.

Frankly, since it's a smaller store in comparison to other Publix (lots being built under new name Greenwise Organic) & very limited selections -- I wouldn't be surprised if they plan to close this store in the near future.

They have lost me as a customer.  For health & safety sake,I'll drive 20 minutes to Winn Dixie, super WM or Whole Foods.

near Seattle...same wonderful experience. I go at 8 AM. everyone masked up, polite to each other, lots of smiling eyes since we can't see faces.

very pleased. I too go every 3 weeks: first to Fred M, then Costco, then self quarantine for 14 days and stay home except for solo walks (with mask).

both stores well stocked, no long lines. while I could go to the early hours for older adults, I don't feel I need that, so leave that time for those who do.

Re: My Fred Meyer shopping trip today

It's funny how these grocery and other trips that we used to take for granted have become outings.  I have my annual physical scheduled for tomorrow and my car maintenance on Friday.  This stuff needs to be done, but I would rather stay at home.

@knittykitty  Wow...you self quarantine!  That is very thoughtful of you.  I suppose I do the same without thinking about it. I only leave the house about once every three weeks or so...either freddys or Costco to stock up.

I hate the fact that going shopping use to be the highlight of my week...leaving the house........getting fixed up with lipstick....now I just put on sunscreen...no makeup..just fix my hair...maybe a touch of mascara. No fun at all.🙁
