I've ordered stuff from ebay for years and never had a problem till recently.  Ordered an eye liner pencil that when I opened the box was broken into three pieces.  I only asked for partial refund from seller but seller refused. In years past a similar thing happened with an item and seller quickly sent out replacement or gave refund.  So no pencil and nothing refunded.

@KKJ , what did the seller say?

Ebay sellers are forced to ship out asap, otherwise they don't get paid for the items they sold.

Don't usually have any problems with ebay, the shippers themselves sometimes get held up, and I have found that the USPS is the worst offender.

When I look at tracking, my item will come to NJ from another state, then be shipped down south (why no one knows!), drift around from state to state, then finally make its way back to NJ.

UPS is usually pretty quick, Fedex not bad, Amazon is extremely fast, and Lasership is the best!

Yes! That happened to one of my USPS packages recently. I counted the package went to 14 different stops along the way. It went to NJ twice and I think it was Maryland once. I live in Pennsylvania. I think # 8 on the trip the package was in Pennsylvania. Then it went to New Jersey twice and Maryland before I got it.

I try not to look at tracking anymore. It doesn't make sense.

Seller said couldn't give any refund but would give me small discount if I ordered ANOTHER one. Why would I pay for another one?

Are you aware that Ebay has a Buyer Protection Plan?  If you can't work things out with the Seller in 5-7 days, they step in and oftentimes just reimburse you for the item and shipping.  Filing a claim takes about 90 seconds.

I have been disappointed in the past with Ebay. But decided to give it another try.

I ordered something on October 28. When I ordered it, the order said I should get it between November 1 - November 6. So by today I expected to see it.

Looked up the tracking. On November 3rd it arrived at a large distribution center about 5 miles from my house. It was then sent to another distribution center about 30 miles from my house. And has sat there since November 3.

The address is correct. So have no idea why it is just sitting. Makes me nervous. I was thinking about ordering another of the same item. Now I am not sure. It isn't Ebay's fault or the Ebay vendor.

It makes me concerned about what to expect as it gets closer to Christmas.

And to add to this - my husband ordered 3 items from different companies. The companies were in Georgia, Ohio and Maryland. He ordered on November 2 and 3. The packages all came today.

I've been an Ebay seller for several years and your comments really surprise me.  I would understand if you were ordering from Amazon, but not Ebay.

Always check how many days sellers routinely process orders ... some will say it take up to 5 business days (which could actually be up to 9 days including two weekend's days).

Ebay has individual sellers who all manage their accounts in ways that work for them.  You'll notice that some charge for shipping and some offer "free" shipping ... which really isn't free.  You usually end up paying more tax on "free" shipping.

I have to ask .... HOW was this being shipped?  USPS, UPS, Fedex ... or how?  Did the tracking indicate what the problem was?

Here's the key issue out of everyones'  hands:  Weather.  If something is ordered, shipped immediately, and then there are floods or storms along the way, it will just take longer.  It is what it is.

While shipping is usually the most unpredictable part of the equation, I find the UPS/Surepost to take the longest.  I try to avoid that whenever possible if time is important to me.

As for your husband's orders, keep in mind that where the companies are located aren't ncessarily where their WAREHOUSES are located.   I've ordered things from QVC (in PA) that shipped to me from their Ontario CA warehouse.  I had those QVC items in 3 days!

Oh @Tinkrbl44 My disappointment was not with Ebay the Company. Sorry I did not make that clear. The trouble was with, what I had ordered. My expectation was different from what I received. I thought the photos clearly showed the product but I seemed to end up donating what I received.

AND it wasn't often that often that this happened.  So I felt I was wasting money. I also thought I was a bit impulsive ordering too. I thought I liked something until I saw it in person.

Did you contact eBay? They step in when the vendor doesn't cooperate.  I had that happen a couple of years ago.  Vendor sent me a purse with defects and wouldn't respond to my contact.  Ebay sent me a full refund quickly.
