My Dentist did not have Covid Shots!

My Dentist was highly reco'd as a specialist for implants & Crowns who does surgery. She has done excellent work on my teeth & she is pleasant & kind. She has a very successful business.

Because of Covid, I avoided the dentist & had not seen her since Jan. 2020 for xrays & a cleaning of some implants & general cleaning. I kept on putting it off but luckily all is well. I went last wk.

She did say that there was one tooth that needed a crown. BUT, she asked me if I got my shots & I asked her if got hers. She said she did not & also said that she did not think it was neccesary since she was young etc, BS! For someone who is a surgeon in the medical field, I found it very disturbing & told her that I highly disagreed.

She said to make an appt. for the crown. I told her I would not return & why. You know, its moronic that she has a rule to wear masks while waiting & has plexiglass windows. Ok, I am over my rant. Happy July Everyone!

Many medical professionals have not gotten their shots.

If you were so adamant about people working on you having shots you should have inquired before your appointment.

eta:  The mask mandates and safety precautions in medical offices is required by state. She should be wearing a mask and gloves when working on you which is usual dentist protocol long before a pandemic

You are right to be upset because she is risking your health. I have a friend who is a dentist in Boston and he has been vaccinated and also wears full PPE when working on patients. My own dentist is vaccinated and wears full PPE in the office.

There are probably just as many health professionals who have chosen to not take the vaccine as have.  Their reasons for either decision vary.  Like the other poster said, if you have a problem with unvaccinated providers, inquire before your appointment.  That way you don't waste your time, and just as importantly, you don't waste theirs.

I hope enough patients leave her practice so she will get vaccinated.

If you got your shots why does it matter if she got hers or not?  She will be wearing a mask and gloves.  If she is young her chances are lesser than getting hit by lightning.  On top of which she may have antibodies.  I still have no idea why all the people that had their shots are scared of those who chose not to.  I got one, it almost killed me and I can't and wouldn't get another one.  I was vax shamed and should never have done it for that reason.   The pharma companies do NOT know down the road what effect this will have on any medications, or conditions people have.   And it still can have an adverse effect down the road on everyone that got the shot.  The first 24-48 hours are NOT indicative of anything that can backfire with this vaccine.  Most have many years of testing before they are used for this reason.

Younger people, men and women are having a harder time with the vaccine effects than getting covid.    Which is why no young healthy person should get this.  They don't need it.  Their risk is just about as close to zero as you can get for any severe effects from this virus.  In fact that group most likely has THE greatest amount of antibodies FROM this virus and don't know it.

Instead of vilifying this doctor, I would be asking what all the health professionals know that you don't?  I know plenty that won't get it.  Fact is this thing is for emergency use only-it is NOT FDA approved yet, and now that we are opened back up where is the emergency?  The only people that were EVER in the biggest danger were the 65 and older.  OVER 85% of those that died were 65 and older, sick, with at least one co-morbitiy or immune issue.  She understands statistics.  She can do the math.  On top of which the purpose of the vaccine is so if you do get it (which you still can) is so your chances of winding up in the ICU are greatly lessened and you can survive and now have antibodies.  Antibodies are your bodies natural response to this and far better than any vaccine.  Our bodies are amazing things once they know how to fight something, they remember.

There is no more emergency.  Emergency protocols have been lifted.  And no matter how many people on here want to insist they need to be back in place the numbers are not there to support the justification.  If there was it would be topic number 1 in the news everywhere.   Just because you still have "Positive" cases poping up here and there does not warrent emergency protocols.   People get the flu each year and it kills far more young, healthy people than this did and will.   What matters is how many are hospitalized and dying and what is the demographic physical/medical profile of those people?  Because if it's still 65 and older and there is in NO way as many as the beginning of last year we are fine.  It's now down to personal choices.  You want to wear a mask, go right ahead and feel free to do it forever, no one cares anymore.  There is no more emergency.  If you are still worried, be worried, but it's fine if someone else is not.  After 19 months they know the numbers, the medical profile of those who had the severest effects and those that sadly passed.  They have treatment protocols in place.  I guarantee this dentist will be fine.   And by the way...she wears a mask and gloves because that was PROTOCOL even BEFORE this.

Bottom line getting the vaccine is not a case of being "smarter", being "wiser" or even "following the science"  it is about what is medically correct for you and only you.  No one is smarter because they got the vaccine, if you get it it should be because you are at a far higher risk for serious to severe outcomes.  That is why we always get a shot for something.  The highest risk get the shots, those whose immune systems are healthy do not need them.  And it should be between you and your personal physician period.  Your dentist if young and healthy has a 99.9% chance of survival.  That has always been the fact of this virus.   Judging by just a few of the side effects for young people taking the vaccine, it's far  better odds than what that vaccine will be doing to their systems down the road as they age and have to mix various medications into any other conditions they develop.

Half of the people working for the CDC did not get shots either.

We were told this was a novel virus never seen before and very little known about it and that was the reason for the ever changing policies, policies that were never uniform across the country which added to the confusion if it was so dangerous and so novel.

My doctor who won't let anyone inside his clinic until we are told to enter by a member of his staff and who has cordoned off certain seats in the waiting room with taped signage "don't sit here" for social distancing with the medical intake lady who takes your temperature and said to me of course all the doctors here at this clinic fully endorse the vaccines and strongly recommend that everyone get one yet my doctor who owns the clinic did not get one.

I saw him as I had an appt and he was wearing a loose fitting ridiculous sports mask of his favorite football team that he kept fiddling with touching the front of as it slipped every time he spoke.

He is a huge supporter of Fauci and nothing you bring up will ever change his mind.  He is a hypocrite and a fake and a huge disappointment to me.

Both me and my husband struggled with should we or shouldn't we take the vaccine and based on their recommendation we took it.  Now, we listen to others who say are you stupid or what.....you're vaccinated stop wearing your mask. But, in Walmart?? Seriously?  Our Part D plan is Walmart because it is the best value and honestly CVS had questionable people in there too from before the pandemic so I wouldn't go in there without a mask either!

We have been told in the news that our area has the Delta variant and it is dominant.

People here on the forums say well if you get sick it will be a lessor bout of the disease.  Really?  And you know this because you heard someone say that on a tv station.

We know that people over 50 who are vaccinated have caught the Delta variant and ended up in the hospital because it has happened here.

@Kabella  What I take away from this post is the fact that she asked you if you got your shot and then you had to ask her, she just didn't tell you on her own.  Obviously, or seemingly anyway, she must feel the vaccine does work to want to know if you got yours.  Surprising that she doesn't feel it's worth getting vaccinated for herself and her patients sake.  👩‍🔬

And my DDS and their staff have always worn masks for decades or at least as long as I can remember.  Heck, even as a teen with braces, my orthodontist and staff wore masks.  So, that part isn't new and just goes to show that masks are effective in these instances.  😷

Happy 4th to you!  🎇🎉🇺🇸

I would give everything I own just to have you back again.......David Gates of Bread

By your post I assume that you got your shot so you are protected unless you don't think your vaccine will protect you...
