I dread calling. Wish me luck!
I have been on the phone for the last 2 hours and 50 minutes. I don't even want to begin to tell you what happened.
Cox Communications - There is a hell waiting for you! Almost 28 years a customer.
Today, I had to call them up. I must have spent about 9 hours on the phone with this dam company. There is no follow through and customer loyalty says they can do things and then doesn't do them.
There is a customer loyalty department as well as a customer advocate department. Both contain lazy and rude people.
I did get some satisfaction but the amont of time spent was insane. It's a full time job dealing with Cox Communications.
Contour 2.0 is much better than the disaster regular Contour boxes. The 2.0 version is voice activated and user friendly. New boxes and new remotes. Now, all Cox has to do is get improved people working for them. Cox thought they just had software problems with their Contour boxes but there are software problems in their employees' brains or lack of.

We also have TWC. We negotiated our bill down recently by threatening to switch. We gave up a few channels too that we rarely watched. What irks me is you have to get certain packages. I may want one channel but I have to buy the whole package to get that channel. I think the prices the cable companies and others are charging for TV and movie channels are ridiculous.

It would be nice if you could pick and choose the channels you want. The only thing with that is there would be channels would go by the way side, people would lose their jobs. I guess that's why the cable companies bundle the good channels with the clunkers.

When we had Cablevision/Optimum and had a problem that they wanted you to try to fix yourself 4 times over, I found the best way to get their attention was to post about their lousy customer service on their Facebook page.
The few times I had to do it, it worked and the problem was resolved.

I keep seeing the ads for ATT buying Direct TV and "come to them". I should call Comcast and bargain while I have a card ![]()
My bill has doubled also.
I have 2 millenials, and neither one has cable. They say cable is going to go bye bye soon, definitely for their generation. They stream everything, and watch everything I do, but they just know all the gizmos to hook up to their computers hooked to their TV's (way more than I could deal with).
But I believe them. I think Cable TV is going to be gone within 10 years.

@kivah wrote:I'm also with Time Warner. A couple of years ago, I called them to lower my bill and the guy - could tell that I'm electronically challenged. So - he said NO!!!! I read an article last week that said - call the service provider and if they say NO - call back a few hours later and get another rep.
Well - last week, they raised my bill to $195. So - I called and asked them to reduce it, as it's too high. The guy put me on hold and said they'll reduce it by $30/month.
Seems like these internet svce providers could charge whatever they want - and raise the bill every year.
I have the package: tv, cable, phone.
That's true -- new customers pay a lot less - initially.
You would think that they would want to lower it for you, so that they wouldn't lose you as a customer. In many areas, they are facing competition with either other companies or dishes, or people are just dropping these kinds of services altogether and are going with internet TV and antennas and services like Roku and Netflix and so on.

I have Time Warner for my internet and Direct TV.
When we decided to drop our home phone...TWC wanted to double our internet bill because you only get a discount when you 'bundle'. So we kept the phone line active....but got rid of all the phones...so no more phone THAT way,,,,

Because I was being chronically harassed by another provider with their fiber-optics, I finally decided to bundle with TWC. My promotional period will be up in the summer and, anticipating your experience, I plan to re-negotiate in person. In my first negotiation, I told TWC to remove one television to reduce the price. I purchased an antenna instead. It's not great, but it was very inexpensive and I plan on purchasing a better one. I'll probably use that threat as leverage, plus remind them that more and more people are turning to streaming devices..

We have our cable provided as a part of our HOA fees. The plans contract is up next year and the HOA board are currently negiotiating with several providers to determine who they wll go with.Currently we have Comcast and they do have some interruption of service so people are asking for verison FIOs but they are slightly more expensive. However, those who have or had FIOs in the past are aware they have great service and picture quality. Also many of us have FIOs internet and landline phone so we would get a better deal on those if we included cable. One great thing about this is - it will be a 10 year contract with no increases in cost during that whole time.

Hi, I'm the OP of this thread. I am sitting and just fuming, my BP must be sky high. I called TWC on 2-16 to get a better deal on my cable bill, it was going up to $248. I was quoted a price of $195, fine. I get my bill today and it's $248!!!!! I call and was told it was never processed through (I always keep a record of who I spoke to and when). I'm then transferred to someone else and spent 1 hour on the phone! I'm told that price was wrong. She then quotes prices over $200. making like she can't do better. I ask to speak to a supervisor (I don't). Everytime she comes back on line the price is lowered. I tell her I only want what I was promised It's like she didn't believe me, I said if I were lying I would have quoted a lower price (I already pay $195 a month). Finally after an hour on the phone she gives it to me for the price I stated! What a waste of my time! I told her it seems like TWC is doing me a favor and is making me jump through hoops just to get what I was promised. I said I have been with TWC for 15 years, someone new comes along and gets the best deal. Does TWC want you to leave and then come back to get the best deal? Then I will have to go through this next year! This just doesn't seem right. Sorry for the venting but I had to unload somewhere!
