PCOS didn't make her nearly 400 pounds. PCOS can also be CAUSED by obesity. My daughter has it, and she may be a few pounds more than she should be, but NOT majorly obese. Obesity can cause the female hormones to go out of whack. Too much or not enough fat can cause disturbances in the menstrual cycle and fertility.
Since she is still young, she can move around all right. More years of morbid obesity and she will hardly be able to walk much less dance. Her joints will wear out.
Pre-diabetes is a sort of misnomer. She may have blood sugar on the high end of normal. Morbid obesity certainly lends itself to diabetes, and she is probably on the way. At her age, any weight loss will probably help normalize her blood sugar. Later on, maybe not.
I feel for her and hope she can help herself. She can have a long life ahead of her.

I never watched the show. The lady can't blame here obesity on pcos. I know someone her weight, and it is sad to watch. They are not happy, but continue to eat poorly. They can barely walk, out of breath, sweat all the time, and can't do a whole lot. This person is young, my age and could have such a better quality of life if they choose it.
I just looked at the girls picture on that show, and she has a pretty face.

I think she's trying to psych herself up about the way she looks when she says she's happy and loves her body. It's sad. Geez, I'm unhappy as heck if I'm 10 pounds overweight. Reading about PCOS tells me one can gain quite a bit of weight but I'll bet she is also feeding (pun very much intended) into this. Maybe even using it as an excuse to overeat.

and now of course, she almost HAS to stay overweight otherwise she would not be getting a paycheck from that awful channel that exploits people. I have seen her lately a lot on talk shows and she laughs and says how happy she is and loves herself. Somehow I don't think anyone is that secure with themselves to really believe that. We all are overly critical of ourselves and sometimes it may just be for gaining a few pounds. I just don't believe her.
I, too, have a friend that looks pretty much like this girl and she cannot walk more than 10 feet without sitting down, can't get up stairs, has to have very heavy duty furniture in her house. She rarely does anything at all. But my friend is now 60 and does not try to help herself at all. I fear her days are numbered. This girl may be dancing now because she is young, but she won't be in the years to come if she remains this way.

I've watched the entire season, and I, too, thought it was odd that being pre-diabetic would preclude her from moving out of her parents' home. Diabetes IS a serious illness, but it can be managed, and this may be the wake up call that Whitney needs. But what are her parents going to do, spoon feed her? For heaven's sake, she's 30!
I do find Whitney to be likable, albeit a little loud. That's okay. And her mom is funny. I admire Whitney for accepting herself as she is, but she is far too heavy to be healthy long term. Maybe she's okay now, but besides the risk of diabetes, her poor heart has got to be working overtime. And her joints! Well, I'm not a doctor, but she's young now; I imagine carrying all that extra weight will take its toll as she ages.
She seems to be a great role model for people with body image issues because she's got such a great attitude. While there is much to applaud her for, I hope she is able to get herself to a healthier weight. I thought I heard her say she is only 5'2"? Not sure if that is correct.

I like Whitney and her personality. I admire her for being able to go to the beach in a bikini, teach dance & make jokes. If I were overweight I would hole up in my house. I worry about her health.

I read somewhere that her dad Glenn William Thore is also interested in modelling and acting. So, who knows if this show is really on the up and up.
They all seem to be more infatuated with the "fat girl" show, than the "fat" girl showing everyone how to lose weight and love her body while she's doing it. JMO
I still wonder why her parents have a southern accent and Whitney doesn't....

I give Whitney lots of credit and admire her confidence. she's up against a lot with all the taunting and haters and all. And they're in her face most of the time.
I think she's a good role model for very heavy women and teens who lack self confidence. IMO she needs that confidence to lose the amount of weight she has ahead of her. I wish her all the luck in the world and hope she keeps on dancing and living her life.
I also hope she gets together with Buddy. I thought it was so sweet when he commented on how lovable she is.

Here is a picture of Whitney's mom when she was 38. She is stunning.
