Re: My Bethlehem lights tree

@qvcfreak

I had a similar experience with my BL slimline tree from Q.

It lit the first year, but then went dark like yours the second time I used it.  BL lights wouldn't help (one year warranty) and Q wouldn't help.

Unlike you, I didn't have the patience to remove the lights & gave the tree away.

Bought a lovely tree without lights.  Will never buy anything prelit again.

Glad you made it work for you!

Re: My Bethlehem lights tree

Looks very pretty, nice job...I’m curious though, why did you need to remove the lights that weren’t working, why not just string new lights on? Our tree is over 20 years old and we’re finally buying a new one today...the upper half hasn’t lit in a couple of years, but I just bought a string of lights and plugged it into the part that was still working and you’d never know I added lights...

Take time every day to enjoy where you are without a need to fix it

Re: My Bethlehem lights tree

@qvcfreak  You did a nice job and congrats on the amount of patience you have.  I had a similar experience with Bethlehem Lights with one of their wreaths,.  I still put it out but it no longer works and hasn't for awhile.  Unfortunately they make all this stuff in China and it is made so cheaply.  There is no reason with the ridiculous prices of these things that they cannot be made to last.   I'm in agreement, I too will not buy anthing prelit anymore.

Re: My Bethlehem lights tree

I have no idea how the trees made, but I wonder if you could have just cut the wires of the nonworking lights and remove them faster in chunks. Oh well, it’s done now and your tree looks fantastic. I love the white doves, very very pretty, and you have it up nice and early so you can enjoy it the whole month. Thanks for sharing.

Re: My Bethlehem lights tree

Unfortunately  I have had the same poor quality from Bethlehem Lights so I don't buy from them any more.  Bought the Edison lights for my front porch.  One bulb on a string didn't work on arrival, 2 weeks later another string stopped working. They bulbs were non-removable so couldn't try fixing them. Very poor quality.

Re: My Bethlehem lights tree

Looks pretty! Much work!

I've sold those prelit trees for years.  Not saying that this is the culprit, but we see alot of light bulb/strand damage when the trees get stuffed back in the box, after the season.  Best to leave them up, and covered.

@mousiegirl, no bunny, it’s my chihuahuas, Oreo (12) and Shad-O (17). They are very afraid when I’m decorating but once it’s done, they are fine.

Re: My Bethlehem lights tree

@Karie2022, the bad lights would bother me and I know I would just focus on them so I went for it. I’m glad I did as we downsized homes and I couldn’t find a slender tree and now they’re everywhere.
