My soon-to-be 14 year old beagle, Penelope, is sick. She has been limping badly for the last two months. We have had x-rays and ultrasounds completed, but with no diagnosis. She has arthritis but this is something else. Our vet thinks she may have a neural tumor. If that is the case, it's fatal. Fortunately, we live in a town with one of the best vet schools in the country. We have an appointment with a specialist who will likely order an MRI. Despite the expense, we want to do all we can to get a diagnosis and take it from there. It is SO hard to deal with losing a beloved pet, even in old age. Penny survived cancer twice before; our vet saved her with his expert surgery. I think this time only a miracle will save her. I pray for the best but expect the worst.
