I had a friend who had her maiden name tatted down the length of her inner left forearm in script right before she got married. It was beautiful.

I love that idea. While I love having my husbands name I do kind of miss having that connection to my own ancestry.

Some of the nicest people I know have tattoos, including my Mother. My Mom has had my Dad's name tattooed on her since before I was born. He is gone now, But I still smile when I look at it.

Exactly.
True story - my late husband was in a wheelchair during the last Christmas season of his life. We wanted to do some Christmas shopping and headed out to the local mall. Well, the worst we were treated, with glares and heavy sighs and even at one point elbowed because we got in some folks way came from well-dressed folks. You know who jumped in without hesitation to help us with doors and even interceded for us in the elbowing incident? A number of goth young folks. They were heavily tatted, pierced, black lipstick and nails, leather and dog collars and BIG SMILES and helping hands.
Don't know where folks live. Here, the younger ones are the mean ones. They dislike anyone over say 30 and it doesn't matter if they are tatooed or not. I've had rudeness from all age groups and ethnicities, relijuns and followings.
Hmm....

The huge tattoos and sleeves are so ugly to me. I really cannot imagine wanting to cover one's body in tattoos.

Personally, I don't care for them at all, as I'm of a different generation and we used different methods of self-expression. I don't judge anyone, though. If that's what they like, so be it.
