Moving After 37 Years in the Same Home

We finally found our dream home (a semi-ranch on 3.5 wooded acres) after looking for 5 years, but it is a daunting task to begin the task of moving. We hate to leave our beloved community behind, but we're only moving a couple of miles further up the road (in a different county and city, though.)

Thank goodness we have been remodeling our home over the last year (Re-Bath 2 bathrooms, new asphalt driveway, painted the aluminum siding, new carpeting and linoleum throughout the house, and removed all of the wallpaper and painted.) It is move-in ready, and through word of mouth, two of my friends have told me that their kids (whose families are living with them) would like see it.

We have to get rid of a dining room set, a living room set, a bedroom set, and a kitchen table set. Even though our new house has the same square footage as ours, it is only 8 years old and has a great room, huge kitchen with an island, master bedroom w/bath, lavatory, laundry room and mud room on the first floor. We will use the furniture in our enclosed porch for the great room, and the family room couch will go into an upstairs bedroom for an office/den/reading room. The other bedroom will be the guest room, and the "bonus room" above the garage will be used to storage.

We take possession May 1st, so we are going to rent a storage unit to place a lot of extra "stuff" so we can stage the house to sell it.

I was getting into the car the other day and started crying just thinking about how are we going to do this. We are both 65 years old---no spring chickens. My husband says, "We are rounding third and headed towards home." Any suggestions on how to tackle this huge project would be great appreciated. Thank you so much.
