We have closed caption on all the time

yes!  And thank goodness captions are available when watching Scottish movies!  Lol!  Also, some taped  PBS shows have poor sound quality!   Lord help you if they happen to be heavy English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish dialects.  Lol
