Saw it today. I live in a real movie town with tough audiences and there was applause at the end.
David O. Russell makes good movies. I had to practically drag my friend, who said it was riveting.
Just realized it was the first movie I've seen in years w/o sex or nudity.

Meant to add it was a female "Rocky."

Also, I haven't seen it, but many who did found it so so, or dull. Jennifer Lawrence is the only reason the movie made to the movie theaters. It might have been shelved or done as Net Flicks or straight to dvd
Not quite. Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, and Diane Ladd are very well-respected actors. Not to mention that David O. Russell is one of the movie industry's top writers and directors, with an amazing track record.
I'm not saying this movie is good or bad. I haven't watched my screener yet, so I have no opinion about that. But it certainly didn't get the wide opening that it did simply because of Jennifer Lawrence.

OMGosh I didn't even know that was Diane Ladd. I love her! Yes, great actors in this movie. I enjoyed it.
I do think all or most of Joy's products are made in china. I assume this mop is.

If this movie is not about Joy Mangano, someone needs to tell her and HSN. They may have fictionalized it but it is her story.

What a strange premise for a movie IMO. I can't imagine finding this movie interesting in the least but maybe I'll watch it on dvd sometime.

I made plans with a firiend to see this movie when we saw the trailer a few months ago. This was based on the movies we enjoyed with relativelty the same cast and director. I learned that it was based on Joy M a few weeks before Christimas on these boards..
With that being said, we both enjoyed the movie.. Jennifer is wonderful. I made a point of looking for the real Joy M when she was on air to check out her. I saw her last night selling the hangers with an emphasis on the mop that was coming up on the day's specisl (today). The hostess and Joy were plugging away talking a mile a minute. It turned me off.
I do applaud her as a business woman and all they she achieved. I really don't know if I would have gone to see the movie if I have seen her on TV first. BTW she also produced the movie.I

She was an Executive Producer...that's more of an honorary title.

To clarify (because there were people who commented that she must have financed the whole thing as a vanity project or something of that nature), she was one of seven executive producers, with a total of 13 people listed with various "producer" titles.

Terrier did you ever see were Italia8140 had any thing nice to say????? No matter were I read on these boards when I see her nic I always know it is going to be a rude comment. I think I saw one time were she responded to someone that was nice but 99% of her responses are mean and negative.
