Officer Areanah Preston was shot and killed early Sunday morning in front of her home, returning from her shift. She was so young. Scheduled to graduate this weekend with a master's degree, jurisprudence from Loyola University School of Law.

Thank you Officer Preston for your dedicated service. Deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. May she rest in peace.

A young life full of promise with a good moral compass and a drive to succeed.

This is not just a loss for her family and the city of Chicago.  We have all lost someone here.  The world desperately needs people like this woman.  Rest in Peace officer Preston.

We just had the trial for a perp here in my area where the gunman stood over the police officer, shot him, stood there and then ran.  I live in a small rural area.  Trial was swift and perp quickly found guilty on all counts.  Court reports he showed no remorse for his actions.  A wife and 3 children lost their family member. Sentencing will be swift.
