Mother's Day was really big in our house. Nothing fancy - just very pretty and feminine.

We'd all gather at my parents home for a big meal and desserts.

My Mother would get great gifts - simple great gifts. Flowers, perfume, candy, "dusters", hanging baskets, a piece of china or crystal, - always something pretty but never extravagant.

I'm into gardening so I would always make up beatiful flower pots and boxes for her steps and porch railing. She loved that.

I'd always make food and take great desserts.

My Mother would sit there like a queen - reading all her cards - and crying. We'd all get teary and smile "that smile" at each other - you know, the one that hid the knowledge that it wouldn't always be this way. This happiness.

Now it's just a sweet memory.

I love and miss you Mommy.{#emotions_dlg.wub}M
