Re: More losses for my wife and I

Dear John, I know well what it is like to mourn the loss of a special pet.  I am so sorry that you have this to added to your troubles.  I hope Cindy has a swift recovery.  You two are definitely due for something good to happen.  Like you, I could never keep news like that from DH.  I think you did the right thing.  God bless.  LM

My heart breaks for your loss. When I lost my last furbaby, I found this poem comforting and thought that you may, too.

So glad to hear that Cindy's close to coming home, she's been through so much!

Last Night....
I stood by your bed last night: I came to have a peek.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.
I purred to you softly, as you wiped away a tear.
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm fine, I'm well, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour your coffee.
You were thinking of the many times your hand reached down to me.
I was with you as you shopped today; your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you toward the house, you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "It's me."
You looked so very, very tired and sank into your chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday'
to tell you with such certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew.....
in the stillness of the evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over, I smile and watch you yawning,
and say, "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to meet you and we'll stand side-by-side.
I have so many things to show you, so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out, then come home to be with me.

What a beautiful poem... It made me cry as I thought about all the pets I have lost in the past and still love and miss to this day.

Re: More losses for my wife and I

I am so sorry.   What a huge loss, and so painful.  I lost my Tang, a former stray 2 weeks ago..  He was only 12 years old, but had a pretty hard life before he came to live here. I think how happy he was to find us, (and a good meal!) and we were happy to have him. Your cat had a good life because of you and your wife.  Know that.  I know he was grateful. I know how grateful you and your wife are to have had him.

When we save one cat, especially a stray we save hundreds of cats in the long run.

Thanks for all you and your wife do everyday.  The world needs more people like you two!

Again, sorry for the pain and the stress. I am raising my ice water to happier and healthier days ahead.

Re: More losses for my wife and I

Hello John, this is Jules. Hope you remember me, it's been quite awhile since I visited the forums. I haven't posted since it all changed, this is actually my first lost here. I was looking around and saw your name and topic, and was compelled to reply. From what I gather, Cindy has been struggling again, but it sounds promising if she will be returning home. You two have certainly been thru many trials together. I've always admired your strength. I am so sorry for your pain over the loss of your beloved Max. I know far too well how heart-wrenching it is to lose our furry kids. I hope you find solace knowing that he was a blessed cat to be part of your family, he knew how much he was loved, and you gave him a happy home where he lived out a very long life. Cherish the memories and in time they will bring you comfort and joy. I hope you are remembering to take good care of yourself, just as you do for Cindy and all your furry family! You have my sympathy, condolences, and prayers for continued strength and healing. Best always, Jules
