Something is very wrong when farmers are throwing food to waste while people are starving.

We don't get it because we're not living hand to mouth. The reason people are food insecure is because if you don't pay your rent, the landlord comes after you. If you don't pay your electric bill, the electric company comes after you. The lights go out and your kids can't see to do their homework.
But if you don't buy food, no one comes after you. And if all the money is already spent trying to keep a roof over everyone's heads and the lights on, there's often not enough to buy enough food at the very end of the paycheck. We are talking about the working poor here. Too much week at the end of the paycheck. So no money to buy food until the next payday. (Edited to add: or unemployment check, which is even worse.)

See where on Inside Editon people are shop lifting food mainly bread, milk and eggs. Stuffing inside their coats, under their clothes and running for the door . Footage is on Inside Edition.

Believe me I donate as much as I can....just makes me sad that this has gone way out of control
some areas of the country get no resources and I can tell you I was one who went to bed hungry as all of our income and money was spent on my late husbands cancer treatments....I just wish our government would address this....but that's like thowing a grinade now ![]()

The idea that you had to chose between healthcare and food is just gut wrenching to me. I am so very sorry. I know you are not alone in that struggle.
Knowing it is this way for many is like a knife in my heart. I want everyone everywhere to have food and shelter, so I give what I can. But, it will never be enough.
We could solve this problem, and that's what makes me angry.

It is only a few cents, but I have noticed that alot of stores/restaurants will ask if I want to "round up" for a specific charity. I noticed this increase a few months ago when we were having the change shortage, and they are continuing. It's a great idea.

@SilleeMee It's a supply chain issue involving the two types of suppliers. Those that supply restaurants, hotels, cruise ships and commercial entities and those that. Supply the grocery stores. I listened to a very informative podcast about how and why this is happening. The podcast is called " Planet Money." I'll look for the episode number. It will make sense once you hear the podcast. It will also make sense why it's been a difficult problem to solve.
Sorry, I'vebeen trying to find the episode. It will take awhile and it might be an episode from the New York Times podcast, "The Daily."

@SilleeMee I think this is it. It's the Wall Street journal's podcast. The episode name is below.

@fthunt And check the website, if available, for most needed items.
Sometimes people forget about baby formula, diapers, etc. and pet food.
Some food items are discouraged, too.

We use a cc without reservation.
Nothing is more heartbreaking than to see those lines after lines after lines in distribution centers-where the wait can be for hours.![]()
