DH and I were shopping in Cambria. He had just bought a Pigtail BBQ turner ( little sharp curl on the end) when he looked down at a grated storm drain and saw a $50 bill. The Pigtail turner was just the thing to grab it! Several years later we were in our local casino playing slots and no one else was on our row. I looked down and there was a ticket for $300 and change. The timing was perfect as I had just gotten a speeding photo ticket in a well known speed trap and the casino ticket just paid that!

I found a wallet on one of my early morning walks with $330.00 cash in it. It was still dark so I took it home to look at later. His driver's license showed his home not to be too far where I found the wallet. After I got ready for work I drove to his home and there was no answer to my knock on the door but it was cracked open.
When I turned to leave I noticed a young man walking up and down the street with his head down. I asked him his name and all matched his license.
He was only 23 and had just driven back from his vacation with buddies and had unloaded his car and wanted to catch a few winks before going to work that morning. Not sure how the wallet got into the street down from his home but it was a windy December morning. He was thrilled I had found it and I was thrilled to make him happy. Late for work but he got his wallet.
On my walks I have found a credit card, check book and a $20.00 bill two different times and three $5.00 bills lying on a sidewalk. I called information for the name on the credit card and returned it to them and the checkbook I took back to the address listed on the checks.
I found a cell phone in the middle of a residential street once and just waited until someone called the cell to find out who owned it. The owner's 10 year old son called wanting to be picked up from his sleepover. His Dad had taken the phone with him when he dropped his son off had put the phone on the bumper of his Suburban and forgot about it. He came to my home later that day and got it back.
As far as the cash the first $20.00 bill I put in my wallet and carried it around for many years until one day it was just gone. I must have pulled it out by mistake and spent it but I had it for at least ten years. It made me sad I had always felt like it was a good luck charm. The other cash I found I put in the collection plate at Church.

Like @ninjawife , after my mom passed my sister and I were at her house every week cleaning it out. Probably the first week I was cleaning out the fridge and found $2500.00 in a box in the freezer. A nice surprise for my sister and me. and,a bit the state didn't get in inheritance tax.

Several $20 bills on the floor of an adult video store in the heart of Times Square.
Yes, I picked them up and pocketed them.
I understood the value of a dollar.
They went into general circulation.
Maybe you got one! Talk about currency that's in circulation!

When I first got an ATM card, Many, many years ago, I went to withdraw 40.00 dollars. The two twenties were in the tray as well as a 100.00 dollar bill. Knowing I didnt enter that amount, and not knowing what to do, I just pulled out my 40.00 and left the 100.00 dollar bill. I always laugh and think the next person to use the ATM, got a treat and I bet they kept the money..haha..

I found $500 in one of my drawers when I was cleaning them out. Have no idea when I put it there? I put it back in the drawer.
I have also found money in coat pockets.
We donated books I know I had $2 bills in. Someone will find them.
I found a wallet at Toyland when I was a kid in Hawaii. My parents made me take it back to Toyland. They told me if nobody claimed it I could have it. Later on the gave it to me. I don't remember if it had any bills in it or not. It did have a lot of change in it.

We have a restaurant we love to go to about once a week for a pizza lunch buffet. As we were walking into the indoor entrance I found a $100 bill. Of course my first thought was yeah....this is great. But, I then thought there is probably someone in this restaurant that will be reaching in his or her pocket later to pay their bill and find they have no money to pay the bill. I went to the gentleman at the reception area and gave the $100 bill to him. I mentioned someone will most likely be looking for it when it's time to pay their bill. He was young, thanked me and put the money in his pocket. Hmmm...I later thought I probably should of given it to the manager. If it stayed in the young man's pocket or later made it's way to the person that lost it it don't know. I can only hope it made it's way to the owner.
We've owned dogs for about 40 years and during those walks, I've found a few dollar bills and a couple of five dollar bills. Once there was a trail of coins (quarters, dimes, etc.) down the sidewalk. Someone must of had a hole in their pocket and the change just kept on falling out as they kept walking.

I can just picture the big eyes on the next customer who walked up to the ATM. You made someone's day a blessing.

I have a $1 bill my dad's dad carried in his pocket every day. It's folded up in a box of coins my dad gave me. He collected coins. He told me not to unfold it as it would fall apart it's so old.
