Not one day passes without receiving wonderful blessings from our loving<br /> and generous God. Lord, may I forget the irritations that distract me from<br /> Your happiness.<br /> <br /> Scripture for the day:<br /> <br /> "Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near."<br /> ~Isaiah 55:6<br /> <br /> Meditation for the day:<br /> <br /> God finds, amid the crowd, a few people who follow, just to be near God,<br /> just to dwell in God's presence. A longing in the eternal heart may be<br /> satisfied by these few people. I can let God know that I seek not just to<br /> dwell in God's presence, to be near God, not so much for teaching or a<br /> message, as just for God. It can be that the longing of the human heart to<br /> be loved for itself is something caught from the great divine heart.<br /> <br /> Prayer for the day:<br /> <br /> I pray that I may have a listening ear, so that God may speak to me. I pray<br /> that I may have a waiting heart, so that God may come to me.<br /> <br /> Happy New Year! May you all have a very blessed New Year! Today's<br /> blessings - a good friend from Church came over - first she invited me to go<br /> to Adoration with her, and I went and it was very nice to just be there and<br /> adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Then after that hour I invited her<br /> for the afternoon and supper and we had a great visit! Linus worked his<br /> last Sunday at Northern Tool - he won't work any more Sundays - that's for<br /> sure! I sure look forward to his having every weekend off now! Got a phone<br /> message when I was gone from a first cousin, who is afraid of going blind -<br /> has a lot of eye problems, please say a prayer for Mary. Praying for you<br /> all - thanks for praying for us!<br /> <br /> TEARDROPS IN GOD'S BOTTLE<br /> <br /> GOD, who saw your yesterdays,<br /> Sees all of your tomorrow's.<br /> HE sees your pain and heartache,<br /> And keeps track of all your sorrows.<br /> GOD knows each hurting, lonely child,<br /> HE sees the soul that weeps.<br /> The righteous tears HE gathers,<br /> GOD, in HIS bottle, keeps.<br /> Not one will be forgotten,<br /> Not one is overlooked.<br /> The teardrops GOD has gathered<br /> Are recorded in HIS book<br /> Each footstep is remembered<br /> On the winding path we trod.<br /> Each precious tear is treasured,<br /> For they touch the heart of GOD.<br /> <br /> Before You Can Dry Another's Tears - You Too Must Weep!<br /> <br /> <br /> Let me not live a life that's free<br /> From "THE THINGS" that draw me close to THEE-<br /> For how can I ever hope to heal<br /> The wounds of others I do not feel -<br /> If my eyes are dry and I never weep -<br /> How do I know when the hurt is deep -<br /> If my heart is cold and it never bleeds,<br /> How can I tell what my brother needs -<br /> For when my ears are deaf to the beggar's plea<br /> And we close our eyes and refuse to see,<br /> And we steel our hearts and harden our mind,<br /> And we count it a weakness whenever we're kind,<br /> We are no longer following THE FATHER'S WAY<br /> Or seeking His guidance from day to day -<br /> For, without "crosses to carry" and "burdens to Bear,"<br /> We dance through a life that is frothy and fair,<br /> And "chasing the rainbow" we have no desire<br /> For "roads that are rough" and "realms that are Higher"-<br /> So spare me no heartache or sorrow, dear Lord,<br /> For the heart that is hurt reaps the richest reward,<br /> And God enters the heart that is broken with sorrow<br /> As He opens the door to a BRIGHTER TOMORROW,<br /> For only through tears can we recognize<br /> The suffering that lies in another's eyes.<br /> <br /> By: Helen Steiner Rice<br /> <br /> Don't Ever Forget<br /> <br /> Your presence is a gift to the world,<br /> You're unique and one of a kind.<br /> Your life can be what you want it to be -<br /> Take it one day at a time.<br /> <br /> Count your blessings, not your troubles,<br /> And you'll make it through what comes along.<br /> Within you are so many answers,<br /> Understand, have courage, be strong.<br /> <br /> Don't put limits on yourself,<br /> Your dreams are waiting to be realized.<br /> Don't leave your important decisions to chance -<br /> Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize.<br /> <br /> Nothing wastes more energy than worrying -<br /> The longer a problem is carried, the heavier it gets.<br /> Don't take things too seriously -<br /> Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.<br /> <br /> Remember that a little love goes a long way -<br /> Remember that a lot goes forever.<br /> Remember that friendship is a wise investment,<br /> Life's treasures are people... together.<br /> <br /> Have health and hope and happiness,<br /> Take the time to wish on a star.<br /> And don't ever forget for even a day...<br /> How very special YOU are!<br /> <br /> Almighty God,<br /> <br /> As we are on the brink of a brand New Year, we thank you for all the<br /> blessings you have given us this year.<br /> <br /> Father, please forgive us for all that we have done, that we should not have<br /> done, for the things we should have done and did not. Please wipe our<br /> hearts clean and make us pure again and free in You.<br /> <br /> We ask that in the New Year you will Guide us in our Choices and Decision<br /> Making so that we will choose wisely with the Help of Your Holy Spirit.<br /> Help us to acknowledge you in everything we do and then we will succeed in<br /> our Plans.<br /> <br /> Help us to Delight ourselves in you and you will give us the Desires of our<br /> Heart!<br /> <br /> Help us to Love, show compassion and help others as your Son did.<br /> <br /> We thank you for the Gift of Jesus and for His life given for our Eternal<br /> Salvation and Freedom.<br /> <br /> We ask all in the Saviour's Name! Amen.<br /> <br /> <br /> The 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit<br /> <br /> 1. Wisdom: Helps us to see that the world is only a temporary place for us,<br /> that Heaven is our true home. It helps us to set our hearts on the things<br /> that really count in life, such as God, virtue, and prayer<br /> 2. Understanding: Gives us an insight in to the mysteries of faith and helps<br /> us to explain in the faith to others<br /> <br /> 3. Counsel: Helps us make correct decisions about God's will for our lives<br /> <br /> 4. Fortitude: Gives us the strength to be faithful to Christ even when it is<br /> difficult to do so<br /> <br /> 5. Knowledge: Helps us to see everything in life in relation to God and<br /> eternity<br /> <br /> 6. Piety: Inspires us to worship God and to love Him as our Father<br /> <br /> 7. Fear of the Lord: Shows us the evil of sin and helps us to live in God's<br /> grace. It is also called "wonder and awe" in God's presence because it<br /> reminds us that He is great and all powerful<br /> <br /> Note: See Isaias 11:1-3<br /> <br /> PRAYER FOR THE HOLY FAMILY<br /> <br /> Lord God, from you every family in heaven and on earth takes its name.<br /> Father, you are Love and Life. Through your Son, Jesus Christ, born of<br /> woman, and through the Holy Spirit, fountain of divine charity, grant that<br /> every family on earth may become for each successive generation a true<br /> shrine of life and love.<br /> <br /> Grant that your grace may guide the thoughts and actions of husbands and<br /> wives for the good of their families and all the families in the world.<br /> <br /> Grant that the young may find in the family solid support for their human<br /> dignity and for their own growth in truth and love.<br /> <br /> Grant that love, strengthened by the grace of the sacrament of marriage, may<br /> prove mightier than all the weakness and trials through which our families<br /> sometimes pass.<br /> <br /> Through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that the<br /> Church may fruitfully carry out her worldwide mission in the family and<br /> through the family. We ask this of you, who are Life, Truth and Love,with<br /> the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.<br /> <br />
