Re: Missing My Mother Today...

@SandySparkles

I am o very sorry for the loss of your dear mother and the way you weren't able to hold her hand, it leaves an emptiness.
Have peace knowing she knew you loved her and was as close as allowed.

@SandySparkles I'm sorry to hear that your mom passed during the height of Covid.  I think it was very cruel for those who were hospitalized to not be able to have their loved ones at their bedside if family members wanted to be there.  I can't imagine.

My own mother passed almost three years ago in May.  Her health had deteriorated so we had gone to visit in in April (I'm in PA and mom insisted on staying in south Fl).  When she passed she was in hospice in the hospital and none of us were around either....I felt guilty about that but was glad we did get to see her during her last few weeks.

@haddon9 It was a terrible time INDEED! Not being able to touch her, only compounds the griefšŸ˜”, but I am forever GRATEFUL that they played her favorite hymn. I take comfort in knowing she heard it even though she was unresponsive.🄰 I empathize with your feelings of guilt,ā¤ but what a BLESSING it was for you to have had a chance see her!šŸ’That memory will always hug you!šŸ¤—

I send you hugs @SandySparkles. How quickly I forgot that so many people had to watch their loved ones pass away through the lense of a camera. Covid decimated everything for way too long.

Re: Missing My Mother Today...

@SandySparklesThe memories of our Moms grow more precious each and every year.  My Mom passed 21 years ago and is seems like yesterday.  I catch myself doing things like she used to or saying words as she did.  My grandmother had this poem on a plaque her son had given her.  I know it always brings me comfort and I hope it brings a peace to you as you think of your Mom.

M is for the many things she gave me

O means only she is getting old

T is for the tears she shed for me

H is for her heart of pure gold

E is for her eyes with love light shing

R is for right and right she will always be

Put them together and they spell Mother, the dearest word to me

Re: Missing My Mother Today...

I am sorry for your loss. You spoke of your troubled relationship with your Mom on another thread. My mom passed almost 4 years ago and I miss her everyday, more than I thought I would. I am still dealing with some of her STUFF left behind. Though I have 3 kids, Mother’s Day just makes me sad as I feel like an orphan. So just know that you are not alone. Bake some treats for your family and friends as a tribute to your mom.
Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else. Margaret Mead

@SandySparkles I'm so very sorry for your loss. Losing anyone is so terribly difficult and I cannot imagine how difficult it was to lose a loved one during the Covid restrictions when none of us could be close to them.

I lost my mom many years ago. It's a loss that aches in my heart every day.

Wishing you well and sending love to you.

@SandySparkles , I completely understand . My mom was truly my best friend and I  miss her every day.  When I was younger we had some rocky moments , but even then I knew she loved me and was always in my corner. If I possess any good qualities I owe it all to my tough, but fair German mom. My friends loved her and those her knew her still mention how much they miss her. I'm not religious, but part of me wishes all of our wonderful moms that are no longer with us are having coffee and chatting. Happy Mother's Day mama ! 🌷🪻🌷

@QVCkitty1 Welcome!🄰  Your dear mother sounds like a WONDERFUL person!ā¤ To be LOVED and missed by so many is truly special! My mother had a hot and cold heart towards me but she was a STRONG woman!😊 I now understand that I inherited my tenacious spirit from her!ā¤

THANK you SO much for caring to share such sweet words and wishes!šŸ¤—

Re: Missing My Mother Today...

My mother passed away 27 years ago and I still think of her everyday.    My mother had a great sense of humor and there are so many times something will strike me as comic and I wish I could share it with her and hear her laugh again.    My mother was tough and a hard working lady and she didn't let you get away with too much and she was always there for us.  She used to tell me your mother is your best friend and in time I found that to be true.  God Bless all mothers.

I'm so sorry for your loss @fthunt.  My Mom's birthday is in May too and I always feel that double whammy of loss with her birthday followed by Mother's Day.
