I didn't care for her the minute I saw her. There was something about her that for me, did not ring true. I don't think from what is appearing so far, that she is a good representative for the Miss America Pageant and is a poor choice. The person chosen should be well-rounded - not just about her looks (which I felt are mediocre), not just about her academic achievements, but about her outlook on life, how she treats the world and those in it. Is she a genuinely nice, kind and caring individual?

Fortunately, gone are the days when these beauty pageant people were role models.

Who but other pageant people look to these ""ladies"" as role models? I bet if you looked in any of their backgrounds you would find something. This dope was probably not the exception.

Had she not been from New York, she wouldn't have gotten into the top 15 (or whatever that first elimination total is). And her "talent" was ridiculous.

The irony is that this week is "National Anti-Hazing" week as recognized and supported by the National Panhellenic Council, of which Alpha Phi, Miss America's former sorority, is a member.
When I pledged my NPC member sorority back when the dinosaurs roamed, sorority hazing was virtually unheard of. Certainly not on my campus nor anywhere else that I heard of. Sadly, it would appear that times have unfortunately changed.
I also find it telling that the new Miss America failed to appear at her sorority's Standards review of the actions that put her in that position. That simply is not DONE and shows contempt for her sisterhood and its standards. And while the investigation was still ongoing, she was told she could not participate in any of Alpha Phi's activities. In spite of that, she and her date sneaked into a year-end formal. All this was in 2013, not when she was a naive 18 year old pledge.
I am not a member of Alpha Phi, but pulling a member's badge and removing her from her sorority is not a trivial matter. Nor is it done without a thorough investigation. Members are members for life, so the fact that she was a graduating senior is irrelevant.
She is not a suitable representative for the Miss America Organization or for her sorority, Alpha Phi, IMO.
Very interesting. Thank you.

I watched the whole thing and was shocked when she won. She had nothing, absolutely nothing over at least the last fifteen contestants. Why she won? Who the heck knows. Nothing is "innocent and wholesome" anymore.

Has there ever been a dramatic movie about what goes on behind the scenes of beauty pageants?
There have probably been movies but I'm not aware of them.
