after her father was assasinated, she first started looking for the people responsible and Leon was all about revenge for his wife, too.  After it was all over, she went back to Israel and stayed.  There's more to the whole story than that, but that is the basic idea.

How come Tony couldn't convince her to return?  Did I miss something?

He tried, but supposedly she just wantedto change her life's direction.  the actress that played the role, Cote de Pablo, was leaving the show so they needed her not to be around.  At least they didn't kill her off like they did Kate's character.
