Noel mentioned that there are many Christians who support gay and lesbian people and its very true and I'm so glad they do. Its sad that many buy into only six misunderstood scriptures to justify a whole belief system that isn't God's intention at all.

My brother has been a Christian for more years than I have. He worked as a street officer in Riverside and his partner was a gay man. They had many a conversation and my brother grew to respect his integrity and his dedication to his work and his long-time partner.

We both have quite a bit of money we donate to organizations thanks to God richly blessing our families with good business sense. Thanks to knowing this man, my brother quit donating money to any church organization because most felt that gays and lesbians were living in sin. Its nice to further the gospel but most of the time, with that comes the belief and misunderstanding that they aren't right with God. So, we now give to other organizations and for me, I give my most of my charitable money to the many animal rescue organizations that work hard to save animals from mistreatment , neglect and death in some awful shelters. I see these workers as ones who are selfless and they give a lot of time and personal money to help sick and helpless animals. I also make sure they are using the funds for good purposes and not just scamming people.

Man's inhumanity to man is at least slightly more on equal footing, but man's inhumanity to innocent loving creatures is another thing altogether. If I ever was moved to commit violence, it would be against someone who hurt an animal.

I know there are many Christian congregations as well as individuals, who support the g a y community.

FG, thank you for speaking out with love and acceptance Smiley Happy It's time we let others know not every Christian buys into the exclusivity game.

I have no clue who this person is, I never heard of him.

Right or wrong, I don't see the difference in this and how the Catholic church says you should give a donation each week of 20% of your weekly salary. Or is it 10%? ANYWAY, many probably do that too. (So that and the fact that my Aunt couldn't take commune until my Uncle died because he was married before he was married to her, are just 2 reasons of many that I didn't join the Catholic religion with my Italian side. My poor Aunt sat in the back of the church her whole life until my Uncle died because she could not take communion! (I don't know If they changed it since?)

And...MY church (Protestant like my Mom was) always said donate what you CAN, they don't ask for amounts. So I don't believe in asking for a specific amount!

But whoever wants to give what its their business, and whoever wants to believe what is also their business.

Lastly- This thread reminds me of what I was always told. Never discuss religion or politics, because it always ends badly :-)

You obviously don't like the Catholic Church..

I couldn't be more proud to be a Catholic.

I'll leave it at that.

Paid for, I'm sure, by all the wonderful tithing in his ministry, while some may go without food or warmth for their own families by giving and making his bank account thrive..

I doubt very much that anyone giving to spread the gospel of Christ is going without food or warmth. Most people go without food and warmth because they don't give. Giving is wonderful and something I do cheerfully. I can tell you I have plenty of warmth and too much food. lol

People can go without food and warmth for various reasons. How do you know how God is interacting in their lives? You don't know. The good Lord is not an ATM machine. He will help people because they have faith in Him that has nothing to do with money, and not because they put money into any kind of church collection, or because they send money to any kind of televangelist.

I would like to address the use of the term "gay lifestyle"..........I've seen it used on the Q forums and it's turned up in this thread several times........that term is offensive and certainly outdated..........the style usage manuals of the AP and the New York Times, for example, prohibit the term........... Why?.........quote/"There is no single gay, lesbian or bisexual lifestyle. Lesbians, gay men and bisexuals are diverse in the way they live their lives. The phrase 'gay lifestyle' is used to denigrate lesbians, gay men and bisexuals suggesting that their orientation is a choice and therefore can and should be 'cured'."/quote.............SOURCE: http://www.glaad.org/reference/offensive....................I respectfully request that we all remember not to use offensive terms moving forward, especially since that use is expressly prohibited in QVC' s Community Standards............
