Mike Nichols and Elaine May were one of the funniest comedy teams ever. I was lucky enough to see them live when they reunited for a benefit concert for George McGovern in 1972. They both went on to great success in writing and directing.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

A wonderfully talented man, and one of my "fantasy" directors. I really envy everyone who had the opportunity to work with him.

i am watching THE VIEW right now.....whoopi was crying and could barely get through the segment that they did. he was her mentor and she interviewed him last year for a segment. he gave her her big break in the industry.

He directed one of my all-time favorite movies, The Graduate. He was very talented.

I was very sad and surprised to read this when I first got online this morning. I've always liked both of them.

I read the piece that was on att/yahoo and, before that, I didn't even know that he had won all the main awards - Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and quite a few Tonys. Not too many people can make that claim. He was a major talent.
